Great win for our boys and coaching staff. Raceland had an off night and still walked away with the W, signs of a great team with great coaches.

Is it possible to access 2 penalties on one play? I've never seen this in any game before. 2 penalties for 30 yards!

Yes, the 2nd was a dead ball foul, after the play. No biggie, they got 15 donated back on the next play by a holding call.

First of all, congratulations to Raceland. They are a very good team.

 

Russell played their best game of the year. Old Rambler, I don't buy the stuff how Raceland didn't play their best tonight. Russell played very well. It's just that Raceland is the better team this year. They have a strong line and 2 good running backs. I get the feeling this game was won in the weight room this summer. A lineman like Logan doesn't come along too often. From looking at him out there, I thought T.J. Maynard had suited up for a second! :-)

 

This was a COMPLETELY different Russell team than I have seen at any point this year, though. Every Russell fan, player, and coach should be proud of their effort tonight. The personnel changes on defense helped. Stapleton, Rice, and Smith were great. Storm Burgess in the backfield helped. Jason Dolly is an outstanding punter. Abrams was simply phenomenal. Cordle played well. The sidelines were into the game and even chanting. If Russell had played with this kind of spirit from game 1 this year, this season would have been different and we wouldn't have been going to Belfry in round 2. If they play like this in the playoffs, though, they will definitely compete against anyone.

 

As for Raceland, they likely have a tough rematch with LCA in the playoffs, but I really think they can get to the title game this year. I don't know how good Beechwood is, but people talk of them as if they are unbeatable. I really hope Raceland pulls it off, though.

 

Oh..and as for those who said this wasn't a big game for Raceland...I haven't heard celebratory fire trucks blaring from my house in Flatwoods after any other Raceland win this season. I do tonight. :-)

I didn't see the hold, there may have been, but the white hat got an earful from Hoof about the 30yds in penalty and not 15 seconds later a 10yd gain ended up a 15yd loss. Suspect to say the least. Hoof did the right thing in his ear. It worked.

Really...if someone could watch that game and claim either team had an "off night", then your perception of the game of football is much different than mine.

Yes, there is no limit on the number of penalties you can have on one play.

Nah. Just another good win for the Rams. You must not have been around after the Rams beat Ashland. A lot of people put the fire truck thing down. It's a way for the community to give something back to the players and coaches. It truly shows community support.
