Any chance a one loss team gets in to the title game over an undefeated Penn St.?

Featured Replies

Possibly. I think if Texas gets beat in one it's final games, but then wins their Conference Tournament, then they could do it.

I just don't see Bama or Texas losing a game and not dropping behind PSU. I also don't see UF/UGA/Oklahoma jumping PSU without PSU losing.

So no, I don't think it happens.

ESPN says that the math would allow Florida or Oklahoma to jump over Penn State if PSU is undefeated and either of those two finish with one loss. PSU is in a very difficult position. Again, that is according to the experts at ESPN.

Georgia should have a better shot than Florida. They're higher in the BCS right now, and their loss was to a much better team.

The unfortunate thing for Georgia is that they get to tackle the buzzsaw this weekend, which will eliminate their hopes and propel Florida.

With the BCS system, anything is possible...

I don't think so, but I won't go as far to say that it couldn't happen. PSU strength of schedule isn't the greatest, but I think they are deserving of a title shot. But i'm not the BCS...

No, I do not think it will happen, nor do I think it should happen. Tough strength of schedule or not, if you can get through one of the major conferences undefeated, you deserve a shot over any 1 loss team. That is essentially saying the Big 10 is prohibited to play in the national title game, regardless of how they perform. Then again, I guess you can argue the past four Big 10 representatives in BCS games acted as if they were prohibited from playing :D

It's the BCS. Of course it's possible.

If it happens no one should watch the national championship game, it would be a crime to rob Joe Pa and all college football fans if Penn State is undefeated and a one loss team gets in over him.

Florida lost to an average Ole Miss team. If Alabama looses it will either be to a bad LSU or Auburn team or to a Florida team and therefore they wouldn't be the conference champion.

I don't see Texas loosing so I have no scenario for them.

That 1 loss has a pretty significant impact on the formula. I would think that in order for a 1-loss team to sneak in, it would have to be a team that has already lost one (e.g. Florida) and that wins out convincingly from here to pull it off. A team losing this late in the season has less of a chance.

Who has Penn St. beat? I think it could happen.

OSU was a top 10 team

I think Oklahoma or Florida will. They will be playing a top 5 team in their conference championship game which would help. If Texas or Bama lose this late, I dont think they will get in.
