October 26, 200817 yr I did. I also know Cobb didn't face the same pressure as Hartline because the game was pretty much out of hand and Florida backed off some. Cobb gives them a running quarterback but who will he throw to when the defense stacks the line and assigns a linebacker to shadow him?
October 26, 200817 yr If the defense stacks the line then there will be wide open targets. But they can't get open and can't catch it when they do get open.
October 26, 200817 yr It is much more difficult for a defense facing a QB that has the threat of running and just making a play when nothing is there. With Hartline there IS nothing there . He won't run when he should.
October 26, 200817 yr There seems to be very little doubt that Hartline will start, even though Cobb should. If he kept going back to Hartline despite how ineffective he was, Brooks is going to be sticking with him. Hope I'm wrong. :thumb:IMO theres no doubt he will start, the only question is why?
October 26, 200817 yr Does Joker deserve any blame in Hartline's play this season? After all, he's in the booth calling the plays. I think Joker looks at the kids playing WR and thinks Cobb helps the team more at that spot. Think about young this WR group is. I do think Jokers playing calling, he has been playing not to lose instead of playing to win. Because the defense has been so good this season he can do that, but it hurts when you are playing teams like Bama and Fla. Last week against the Raizorbacks it almost bit him. Two things that I keep thinking about. 1. Why are they so short handed at the WR spot. Seems like every position should be stocked. They have had plenty of time to recruit depth. I know some injuries have occured, but still should have some talent. 2. The staff put to much trust in Pulley to lead this season.
October 26, 200817 yr UK has to play the QB, which allows this team the best chance, to sustain drives, move the football and make the defense, have to expect a pass/run. Cobb is the answer right now and Hartline, is struggling. I'm sure Coach Sandres and Coach Phillips, are making decisions they believe to be the best for the Wildcats, based off many needs.
October 26, 200817 yr Here's the receiving breakdown for the year. I don't know if we blame Hartline for not being able to throw over 5 yards, or the receivers for dropping balls. Its not a good situation when your top two receivers are out, and the 3rd best it your top option at QB. Player - REC - YDS Dicky Lyons - 33 - 264 Derrick Locke - 23- 195 Randall Cobb - 18 - 164 TC Drake - 9 - 158 Alfonso Smith - 6 - 114 Kyrus Lanxter - 7 - 89 John Conner - 9 - 83 Gene McCaskill - 8 - 79 Maurice Grinter - 7 - 76 EJ Adams - 7 - 75 DeMoreo Ford - 3 56 - 18.7 Eric Adeyemi - 7 - 50 Aaron Boyd - 5 - 46 Tony Dixon - 12 - 33 Moncell Allen - 4 - 32 Matt Roark - 1 - 16 Ross Bogue - 1 - 8 56/160 (35%) - Lyons/Locke 18/160 (11%) - Cobb 31/160 (19%) - Running Backs (excluding Locke) 16/160 (10%) - Tight Ends 39/160 (24%) - Receivers (excluding Lyons/Cobb)

However his three to five yard passes are often high or behind the guy. I dont blame Hartline for anything. I just think a bad quarterback has been put in a bad situation.
October 26, 200817 yr Why doesn't someone just call in to the Rich Brooks show and simply ask him? I mean no way should Hartline start, it's pointless and it's not like the season is lost considering we're 1 win away from being bowl eligible and they've done pretty well especially with all the injuries they've suffered through. Hartline needs to be benched, he has no confidence.
October 26, 200817 yr Put Lindley back there since he is the best player on the team. It can't be any worse! I am being sarcastic but really it wears me out how UK's offense and special teams play this year. UK has the best defense I remember them having. If the offense + special teams would quit turning the ball over they can play with anybody when healthy! They have a GREAT punter and the defesne is loaded. Blocked kicks for scores, returned int's for TD's is not acceptable. Protect the ball, take some shots downfield to soften the defense and move the chains. The defense will keep them in games! I don't see how in the world you don't give Cobb a chance at QB. I know he will be a WR next year but this game they are playing for a bowl! :thumb::thumb:
October 26, 200817 yr First, I'd vote Hartline to start. Not who I want to start, but who I think will start. I really don't think that the logic that if Cobb is at QB we take our best recieving option out of the lineup because as of right now Hartline has only on occassion even been able to prove he can actually get the ball to his recievers. The Arkansas game was special, and its hard to knock Hartline for what he did there. Still, he for most of the game showed the futility he has displayed all year. The kid doesn't scare defenses and we will continue to have to rely on our own defense to win for us. Cobb at least brings multiple threats to his game as QB. The kid can run and throw the ball. He is an athlete that makes plays. (Frankly though, I just want somebody who is gonna actually attempt to get first downs on third down. We can't continually hope our athletes will make plays to get the first down because so far this season they have failed more times than they have succeeded. If I see us throw the ball two yards or less when we need four or five yards for a first down much more I am going to scream!!)
October 27, 200817 yr Cobb should start I don't know what Brooks sees in Hartline I just don't see it.
