So anyone think Beechwood and Bellevue will meet again in the playoffs with the cross bracketing this year.

Just curious but how many out of district players has Beechwood had over the past 5 years who have been major contributors? I ask this because I really don't know.

 

The only one I can even think of was the Moore kid (I think) that came from Bellevue to Beechwood.

 

Honestly if the kids are paying tuition to go there from out of district, I see no problem with it and it's really nobody's business. Many of those kids are there because of the academics and the preparation for college that they'll receive going there. It's not like only athletes are coming there. I have several friends whose daughters attend Beechwood simply because they went there and want their children to receive the same education they received.

 

 

I understand the academics arguement, but coming from one of the smaller schools it really does not have much substance. Every school in the state is required to teach the same material for college prep. True, some schools are better than others, but true success comes from parents and the students willingness to learn. Coming from Dayton, I can vouch that they prepared me for college as well as any other school in the state could have. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA in college and I am attending graduate school to recieve my PhD in chemistry. So the education arguement IMO is not there.

 

Anyways for the game, I was surprised the score was so close at half, this could give Bellevue confidence going into their likely meeting in the second round, correct? I figured Beechwood would handle them easily, but maybe Bellevue can gain some confidence from the first half and keep going.

Please explain to me then how is it that Cody Elliot went to Beechwood and his little brother is playing runningback at Ryle?

 

Cody was a tuition student. Travis opted to stay with friends and go to his home district school.

Not so unusual or illegal.

 

BTW, Beechwood has tuition students who come here to play in the band, play golf, baseball, be in the play, etc. There are many interests, many reasons that people choose to come here.

Man, I hope so! They have gained confidence with a good ,no very good first half defensive showing, but nothing is going to change the fact there are 2 halves, and the Beechwood D will show up as well!

I don’t need to watch game film Willy. He is an exceptional athlete. Read the post. There is no way you can call him an exceptional running back. He repeatedly turns his back on contact trying to spin free. IMO an exceptional back would decelerate under control, change direction and accelerate creating distance between him and the tackler. Again I will repeat myself in case you missed it. HE IS AN EXCEPTIONAL ATLETE. Avoiding aggressive contact early in the game is not what I would call exceptional. Also read the thread again he plays linebacker as well, it has to take its toll. Look at # 35 on BW as you watch the game film you will see a much more balanced runner, low, better cuts and keeping his face towards the goal. IMO # 44 has given up on the play when he spins trying to lessen the blow. He is not trying to gain yards by spinning, just lessen the blow.

He is a special 1A back, and I believe he would be a better back given better training. Also playing at a larger school would allow him to focus on running.

4.6 speed with power is good, not exceptional…

 

Thats funny the coaches from Louisville,Cincinnati,Gardner Webb,Tenn, think that he is and that why they are pursuing him as I have gone and talked to each coach myself. So if he not exceptional we will just say he will be playing D1 hows that.And yes I hope they meet again so we can put it to rest because it will be the same result.

Lets hope Bvue and BW meet again. With the LINE of BW he ,#44, should get his yards. I hope he runs hard and uses his God given talents to the best of his ability. He could really help set the pace by taking the tacklers head on punishing them early. Lets hope its not the exact same result, and he gets through the game healthy. It was the trainers cart taking him off the field at the end of the game....

Fiirst of all I have never compared Buckler to Tiepel so why are you bringing him into this? Last time I checked this was a game of competition, 11 boys against 11 boys. There are classes of schools all having to do with size of student body. I have heard enough about socio economic advantages and the advantage our gene pool gives us, come on, get a grip. Not every parent is well to do in the district, believe me. So stop your whining and giving all the reasons your schools cant develop a program and just do it.

I am sure we would not beat the Trinity or Saint x teams but we would at least have the tools to give them a run, and there would be no excuses the next day about devine intervention!

Ageed. That little example trickles all the way down to Class 1A teams, but much more impact on the team/player. A player can go from a nose guard/tight end to one of the best running backs in NKy in two years. Or be a smaller kid early(DB/WR) then with the numbers problem become a guard/linebacker by putting on just twenty or so pounds... With that said fours years of learning and practicing one position, you will most likely master it with any ability at all...

Never said we would beat them, said we have the tools to give them a run, meaning we would not roll over just because they are who they are, make the playing field even, 40 of thier guys against 40 of ours, and it could be a different ball game. Big schools such as these two have the advantage of numbers. With that said, they are still heads above the tigers and I was not comparing the two, simply responding to a non sequitur post from Fc.

I am pretty sure Beechwood was top in the state in test scores this year future coach so I have no idea what you are talking about...
