OK, So When Obama Wins . . .

It probably will take more than four years to straighten this mess out.

Last time we had a Democrat try to straighten out an economic mess, it took 10 years and a war to fix it. The more the government messes with the system, the harder it is to recover. Taking government funding away is like trying to cure a heroin addict.

Everything will be great in 4 years. He will make sure all can stay in their homes, pay their bills and have health care.Free money for everyone.:dancingpa:dancingpa along with big government.:eek:

So, he's going to add even more than the apx. 45,000 federal jobs added under GWB? The "Republicans are for smaller government" line is a freakin' myth.

Really, what president actually lives up to campaign promises? None in my lifetime. Heck, GWB said he was against nation-building, yet we're armpit-deep in just that. And it seems pretty obvious he was intent on doing that in Iraq well before Day One of his presidency.

Neither party has shown the ability to shrink government over the past few decades. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger. But $900 billion in new spending and not enough 'cuts' to make up the difference shows Obama ain't gonna make it any smaller.

Ok, that's perfectly fair. But as a premise you have that Obama will at least have made some progress toward that which he has championed. So, for example, if in 4 years NO legislation has been introduced attempting to rectify health care, and the same number of Americans are still uncovered and the Americans are paying the same level or more in premiums, could we say that Obama's glorious prognostications were nothing more than hot air?

No, I would say that any reasonable health care solution would be filibustered in the Senate and vetoed by the President. There isn't much point in introducing legislation in that environment. Come January, we'll see.

I thought McCain was the one wanting the buy up all the mortgages and sell them back to everybody at better rates? ;)

All I know is he said at least ten times the government needed to make sure people could stay in their homes, pay their bills and have healthcare.I expect he meant more free money for a lot of people that will have to be overseen by the government.Heck I hope he pays all my bills for me and that is what he said exactly. Now what he means I don't know because he never says how he is going to do that.

I think the country is in such a mess that Obama (or McCain) could sit on their hands and keep quiet for 4 years and it will look like they have done a good job.

He will get on tv make a wonderful speech about how screwed up everything was when he got in office, that it will take him 4 more years to fix it. Then the sheep will obey. 4 years after that, same thing and the sheep will want the 2 term limit dropped.

Sounds a lot like whats been going on the past 8 years...

Sounds a lot like how George W. Bush got reelected. I still to this day can't figure out why anyone would have voted for him a 2nd time.

Bush gave a wonderful speech, when did this happen?

He has given us so much good stuff Frank Caliendo is a millionaire!

The Republican rank and file are for smaller government. Unfortunately, too few elected Republicans are for smaller government.

Of what value are either of these two comments? Obama supporters are implied rats, and stated sheep! Have some respect, and realize that Obama supporters are made up of many, MANY people who are thinking, analyzing and coming up with a decision that is different than yours.

Once again what change will happen?

His records show that he is a BIGGER CROOK and liar than McCain.

I don't think he could have screwed up nearly as bad as our current President has.

Bush will go down as the worst president of all time. NO question about it. And some on here voted for him not once, but twice. That turns my stomach like microwaved White Castle.
