October 8, 200818 yr . . . with a Democratically-controlled House and probably a Democratically-controlled Senate, here is my question for Obama supporters: In 4 years, when me measure the policies of his first term and the promises he made here on the campaign trail, if he has failed to deliver on certain issues, which ones will cause you to change your vote to another candidate in 2012?
October 8, 200818 yr I think Obama winning with a Democrat controlled Congress could be a real disaster for the Democrats. If the Democrats throw money we don't have at the recession, there's going to be a lot of angry voters in 2012. They'd really be better off with a Republican president who a) is better equiped to handle an economic crisis and b) can be blamed for a poor economy.

Hearsay, the real key would probably be the mid term elections in 2010 wouldn't they? Clinton won in '92 but because of the Health Care/Socialized Medicine push the GOP took advantage and ran a great campaign that captured the House and Senate. That kept Clinton in check the remaining 6 years. Because of that, I don't see the watershed being 2012 but 2010 and whether or not the public votes in a check on the Obama government by the GOP taking back at least the Senate and maybe the House as well.

There are worse questions to have to deal with.
October 8, 200818 yr I don't think his supporters will do anything. He will get on tv make a wonderful speech about how screwed up everything was when he got in office, that it will take him 4 more years to fix it. Then the sheep will obey. 4 years after that, same thing and the sheep will want the 2 term limit dropped. His supporters then will say how racist everyone is for not supporting dear leader.
October 8, 200818 yr Nothing will change their mind, a vast majority of these Obama supporters seem to be following the the piper to whatever tune he plays.
October 8, 200818 yr I expect that President Obama will be unable to deliver all that he has promised. That is unfortunate, but it is the norm. He will however, be able to deliver more of what he promises than a candidate that doesn't want to try to achieve these things. I'll give you an example from my youth. President Kennedy set a goal of going to the moon before the end of the sixties. We made it, but would he have been any less inspirational if the lunar landing had been delayed until 1973? I think that a lot of people doubted our ability to reach the moon that quickly. From what I have read, neither President Kennedy nor NASA had any idea how we would do it. Leaders have to set goals that will be hard to reach if they are to accomplish great things. Senator Obama has set some very lofty goals. Will he achieve all of them? No, but we will be much farther down that road than we would be if we never tried.

In other words, it will be the same as it's been for ages, except for the racist part.

Just curious, why would a Republican president be a.) better equipped to handle an economy crisis?

Sounds a lot like how George W. Bush got reelected. I still to this day can't figure out why anyone would have voted for him a 2nd time.
