October 1, 200817 yr Author My mom was one of those who thought you shouldn't sit around and do nothing, even if the weather outside was nasty. From a very early age, we played "hangman", scrambled words, stuff like that that probably helped a little bit down the road as far as school. Also taught me several card games; different versions of solitaire, rummy, etc. I know this dates me, but the few toys I had included tinkertoys, lincoln logs and an erector set. Maybe my parents were trying to steer me toward the architectural field. It didn't work.

October 1, 200817 yr I can remember some really great Capture the Flag games.:ylsuper: Football, whiffle ball, Red Rover, bikes, and some really, really dangerous after dark snow sledding on the golf course. The best was Bass and Minnows at the swimming pool. And yet, we all somehow survived....with no safety gear or helmets.
October 1, 200817 yr I was big into army men and we would have wars where you used a rubber band to shoot down the enemy and got a golf ball roll for a bomb every 10 rounds or so. Your guys would advance based upon the number of enemy you killed. I was also VERY big into army men and we did the EXACT same thing with the rubber bands and such. I had some pretty extravagant setups. Of course, we had the gray (Germans), tan (Japanese), and of course the green ones. October 1, 200817 yr I cant believe no one said "king of the hill." The person on top of the hill had to take on all comers who were trying to throw him off. It was pretty stupid looking back. In the fall, we used to find a field covered with stick weeds. Then we would pull up the weeds, which had a big clod of dirt attached, and fight with them. Almost put my eye out once. Looking back again, I was a pretty stupid kid!!!

"I shot you!" "No you didn't!" "Yes I did you cheater!" "I am going home if you are gonna cheat like that!" Yep, the Nerf basketball was awesome. Bunch of sweaty kids expending pent up energy, knocking things over. Mom yelling from downstairs, good times. I used to sit it up on a kitchen chair in my room to make it so I had to jump to dunk it.
