MJAlltheWay24 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Since there are plenty of song threads going on right now, I thought I would add another. What's a country song that when you hear...it really hits home?
mcpapa Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Not a huge fan of country; and maybe this is more Bluegrass than country, but... "When You Say Nothing at All", Allison Krauss

20/20Hindsight Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I decided long ago that I want to dance to Keeper of the Stars by Tracy Byrd at my wedding, so that song has special significance for me. Picking the song was easy. Now I just gotta find the guy that I will be dancing with. That task is proving to be much more difficult.

I like Miranda Lambert pretty well, and the last song on your list is great.
Royal Uncle Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Now that I have kids of my own, there is a song from the early 80's (I think) that means a lot to me. It is Ricky Skaggs' Thanks Again. After that, Red Dirt Road by Brooks and Dunn is pretty awesome. Talks about growing up in a small town and all the lessons learned from it.
threetimelover Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Not a huge fan of country; and maybe this is more Bluegrass than country, but... "When You Say Nothing at All", Allison Krauss :thumb:Love that one, including Keith Whitley's, as well.

My father passed away when I was a senior in High School and shorty after that I heard this song and I can just connect them together, I dunno. Anyhoo, if you d/l music, d/l it & if you don't go to Youtube and they should have it. :thumb:
MBWC41 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 When I Get Where I'm Going - Brad Paisley This was the last song played at my Grandpa's funeral. I love the song but get a little chocked up every time I hear it.

UKMustangFan Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 See post #8 Great choice though...:thumb: I did, and fixed it. Seriously though, when I saw the thread title, that was the first song that came to mind.
halfback20 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Only country music I listen to is Johnny Cash and a little Hank Williams (I, II or III). I hate pop country (most country music these days to me is pop country).
newarkcatholicfan Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Austin-Blake Shelton-I live this song every single day except for the ending What's she doing now-Garth Brooks
Beechwoodfan Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 When my daughter was an infant, my husband sang along with Ronnie Milsap (a taped version of) "I'll Take Care of You". He was rocking her to sleep on the porch with a beautiful view of the Gatlinburg Mountains. It was a great moment that I will remember forever. Now that she is 17, he had no idea how expensive that promise would be! That song still brings tears to my eyes!
