My mom had surgery on her meniscus yesterday afternoon. She had minimal pain, and was able to walk on it yesterday with just a bit of pain. Doc prescribed her percoset for pain. This morning she calls me and tells me she's in a world of pain, says it hurts way more than it did yesterday and that she cant put any weight on it at all or bend it whatsoever. Anybody had this surgery, or have any advice I can give her?

I've had the surgery and they prescribed the same medication for me. Maybe she did a little too much too soon. I was back to work in a little less than two weeks. If the pain continues I'd suggest that she call the doctor who did the surgery and talk to them.

The day of surgery she probably shouldn't have been walking on it hardly at all. Atleast not without crutches. Mostly because of the fact that it can get inflamed and cause much more pain.

 

Yesterday she still had some of the drugs in her that they actually did for the surgery. Now today everything is warn off and she's actually feeling the pain she couldn't yesterday, plus if she aggrivated it any yesterday she's feeling that too.

The doctor told her yesterday she could walk on it, and didn't need crutches...

I've had it, its gonna be sore fore a few days and typically its a couple of days later. I wouldn't be too concerned unless it goes on for a week. You have to think, they cut the knee open and they had to run tools and cameras through the knee, that will give you some inflamation

I have had this surgery on both knees. The best thing for me was resting the knee after the first day but I walked on it as much as possible after that. I used ice packs every few hours for about twenty minutes at a time and it helped ease the pain.

Hope she recovers quickly and gets back to normal.

Almost 2 years ago my son had Meniscus Surgery, but it was the micro fracture surgery. He had a alot of pain with it and even cried at times for the first 3 day. About 10 months after the surgery ....he just started limping again, the first surgery didn't work. He has now just had major reconstructive knee surgery. He had a nerve block and not near the pain this time as the last...also a different doctor.
