If FB could get the athletes to come out (or transfer in) that hoops does at Holmes, then they would definitely be able to have a Colerain-like team. Give Lickert some time and admin support and the results will appear.

 

I'd disagree in general. It doesn't take many extra-taletned b-ballers to have a tough team in NKY. It takes a lot of good footballers coming in to have a team that can compete annually in 5A.

Agreed. A basketball team can ride one superstar an awfully long way.

As bad as coach Lickert might want this one I just can't see it staying close. All birds all the time 42-6

Highlands win by at least 5-6 TD's!

It doesn't matter how many key players for Highlands are banged up. Look for the Bulldogs to get brought back down to earth on this one.

I think the rain we are supposed to get (I just heard showers starting tonight and heavy rain tomorrow) could be a great equalizer for tomorrow night's game. From what I've seen, Holmes doesn't have a great natural grass to begin with; dump a bunch of rain and you have mud. With Crawford's running style, it could hurt the Birds on offense a lot. It will be real interesting to see how Highlands reacts both from an execution standpoint and a coach strategy standpoint (does Ollie Head get a lot more carries; does Alford play a prominent rule running the ball; does Dale let the sophomore Compton get some varsity time; or does Dale stay with Crawford as the featured running back?) Having said that, what I've seen of Holmes O, they don't have a power game either. This could turn into a low scoring game. And before someone posts it, I don't believe that football is still football regardless of the weather conditions and playing surface. And I likewise don't believe that injuries are not an excuse for a loss. To paraphrase a post I saw on Ryan Ernst's blog, if injuries to key players don't matter, why are the bookmakers in Las Vegas dramatically changing the odds that the Patriots will win the Super Bowl now that Brady is out for the season? The answer is an injury to a key player.

I heard that Lick is interested in moving the game over to HHS as long as Holmes gets the gate receipts. (All bluebird passes would be honored!)

 

Both teams would prefer getting the game in on Friday vs playing on Saturday evening... stay tuned for futher developments.
