Even though that IS the reality. No question about it.

The Birds looked a little tentative and maybe not quite ready to fill the big shoes, but I didn't feel that there was cause for alarm.

I feel the O was a little flat. This early in the season, it is common to play as talented, disciplined, skilled, INDIVIDUALS. At this point, there is a lot of thinking still going on. When the feel and insticts kick in, LOOK OUT!

 

They will learn to play together as one.

I heard that Ryle only had 1 first down and 18 yards through the 3rd quarter

One of the great things about DCM stadium is that the fans get an "up close and personal" look at the opposing coaches and their demeanor. I have to say that I am impressed with the Ryle staff. They kept a positive attitude and one coach in particular was constantly imploring the kids to dig a little deeper and reminded them that "we're not out of this...believe me, we're going to win". I just wish the kids on the sideline would have bought in to what he was saying. I saw NO reaction from any of the subs. Show a little espirit de corps for the troops on the field and maybe magic will happen. Ryle's program is going in the right direction and it won't be long before they are there! Nice game, guys!

Saw the same, eh... how do you say it? "espirit de corps" on the Ryle sidelines today at the JV game. The Ryle coaches kept the athletes focused to the very end. I agree DMZ - Ryle just keeps on gettng better and better.

I was upset and worried all at the same time watching this game on Friday night but after having a few days to think it over. I have come to the conclusion that this was not the same Highlands team we saw at the Beechwood scrimmage firing on all cylinders, they played a different game that night. I believe what one poster stated that Dale was playing guarded football friday not letting his hand be tipped too far. I don't think that HHS showed hardly any of it's explosive talent, not one trick play, or misdirection. They played with a handful of plays and won by 20 basically by utilizing a flawless screen that looked as though it was a guaranteed 15 yards every time they ran it. I promise that Dale and the staff will pull out all the stops. I wondered that same thing when I was walking off the field, "is this the worst HHS O-line in 10 years?" But after thinking on it, they are all young and if not young, haven't played with the others and have a new QB to adjust to. The most important thing to remember is every one of these kids is talented. Talented kids can figure it out and will make it work. That is the one thing that Dale and staff teach is team work. This young group of men will come together and who knows, may show Colerain, that TEAM is enough to win.
