After NAFTA was approved, good jobs in this country started leaving. While right away the prices of products dropped, thus allowing an economic boom. It eventually caught up to us.

 

I tend to agree with you on this. It took till now for the effects of NAFTA to be felt on the local front. It provided initial economic boom but the flip side was the boomarang to the local economies. Part of our economy problem is the losing of a large part of our manufacturing economy. So there is credit and blame at Clinton's feet for NAFTA.

Well, there were those record deficits in the 80s ... or at least they used to be record deficits, until this administration came along.

No credit in the making of the policy, it wasn't his. He does deserve much credit for signing it. I just take issue when someone claims it was his policy.

Without a doubt, Clinton deserves the credit for economic success. He sure would have received the blame if the economy faltered.

Come on everyone. From my extensive reading of these forums I have learned Ronald Reagan is responsible for everything good in the world, and Jimmy Carter is for everything wrong with the world.
