Every parent wants their son to play for a winning program and a winning coach with a reputation of making fine young men and with this in mind an the academic programs Russell and Raceland have to offer is it any wonder GC parents see these 2 schools as viable options to the turmoil of the county school?

As I stated last year before the season, Russell will need three years to contend in the region. That hasn't changed. Now, it will be two years until the talent is ready. I hope the boys prove me wrong.:thumb:

I know this is not the Russell thread, but I have to agree with you. Coach Kidwell will maximize what he has right now and will bring them up quicker than most would imagine. Those who know Coach Kidwell already are aware of this.

Back to the original question of the thread. I believe that this team needs 1. Confidence, by this I mean, look at all the turmoil of the past few years. 2. Physicality, The new man from Lexington has to step up and be a force, Trey cannot take plays off and Dustin needs some maturity on his body. 3. Floor Leadership, who is going to step up and take charge on the floor? Craft, Baker or maybe there is a young gun on the bench just waiting to have his chance.

 

This team is heavy laden with YOUNG talent. How will they respond to the new Coach and how will the Coach respond to them will show us where they'll be come late February and March.

Well said Doc, young men don't have to look to the coach for leadership but, they do have to look around at their teammates for leadership and this years seniors have not shown it on the basketball court or the gridiron, granted they have on the diamond, but thats 1 on 1 when you step into the box. The Baker kid tries to lead but thats hard to do when the ball isn't in your hands that often. It comes down to one person to push the others but if you don't push yourself why should the others follow.

Are the numbers up this season? How many Frosh came out?

I believe that some early wins will help get a fire started. I know that there is optimism and some wins will get that going even better. The potential is there, let's see what happens..................

Are you saying Baker doesn't get the ball that much or enough?

Are any of the kids that quit last year or didnt play at all, playing this year?

A couple of the football players that didn't play last year as Freshman are coming out due to GCHS's new coach, Fraley, I have worked his games when he came to the BBA to play when he was at the helm of Rose Hill, class act he is and will bring a positive enviornment to GCHS.

Young man teams are led by guards, check out Elliott County sometime, Baker is a fine player but, he has to be given the ball and Greenup's guard will not do that:thumb:
