Greenup Co 2008/2009

I believe that he may be making a reference to one of the GC players father, who I guess some people believe he may have had influence on who was chosen as the GC coach. I don't have a dog in this fight, but I think that Coach Fraley is and was the best choice for the coaching position at GC.

I know that we will have to agree to disagree on this point!;)

As far as outside influence, other than Fraley himself, it was not a factor in naming him coach.

I didn't mean to start the season. But, possibly by the end of the season.;)

Is Baker any good this year did he improve from last year?

He may have grown an inch. But, he looks like he has put on some muscle. He will be hard to guard in the lane. I did not see him play this summer but he is very athletic and the potential is there.:thumb:

The Musketeers will get a chance to guage their progress when Elliott County visits them early on Saturday December 6th. Hopefully it will be a little better game than last year when things got out of hand in Sandy Hook.

I think many are over looking Raceland and its young talented team, don't be suprised if they come out on top.Greenup county has to much politics involved to advance out of Lloyd, much less be a major player in the District&Region. Can anyone explain to me, with all the talent Greenup County has had in years gone by, has failed to surpass a 34 year record set by the 1974 Team? The very first year of the school

Your negativity doesnt help the situiation and is part of the "politics" you refered to in your post.

As stated above someplace "South Shore vs rest of the county issues". I also believe it is an issue at Greenup County. Not a major issue but still an issue. (whew...thats alot of issues) It always has been since the early 80's. I think Greenup will do good this year then hit the floor running in 2 years. Greenup has alot of young talent coming up from Trey williams(who can score from anywhere) The Justice boy and 2 freshmen who should see a lil playing time Dustin Linthicum and Tanner Willis(back from Raceland). I see these young kids playing alot of tournament play in their careers. Left a couple other kids out only because I dont remember their names off hand.

well you can call it what you want, but it is the facts, and i have no desire to help the situation at Greenup county

GC team needs to hit the weight room. Looks like they will easily be push around under the basket except for Newberry and Hampton. Rebounding was pitiful last year.

Wow, you used "good program" and Greenup in the same post. When has that ever happened here? I wouldn't refer to them as that. As a matter of fact, the revolving door of coaches, not to mention the current Bath Co. coach and his lawsuit, the South Shore vs rest of the county issues. I'm sure that we could continue to add to this list. It will be a very tall order for any coach to restore Greenup to a "good program". I wish the new one luck overcoming the periferal obstacles.

I think anyone that looks back at the basketball history of GCHS would call it a good program. After Coach Ward left (asked to leave), there were still good teams but not the level of success reached under Ward. The issues you raise are not student/athlete issues. These are medling parents and bad hiring decisions. I merely brought to light that Coach Fraley played for Coach Ward and from what basketball knowledge I have, think will coach in that style. If parents will leave coaches alone to coach, maybe the "issues" will go away.

It takes far more than good student/athletes to develop a program. The periferal junk at GC has caused that program to become the laughing stock of the region. Frankly I hate that it has. I recall the days of Steve Skaggs and company, Boo Williams all the way to Mike Scott and those teams. History is just that...........history. Those days have been loooooong gone from GC. I wish them all luck. I hope that the new coach can change the climate outside the walls of the Greenhouse. However, from every indication, his tactics behind closed doors to obtain the job have only fed the machine that has become the GC basketball "program".

As for their outlook, they have pieces of a puzzle to become a regional contender, I'm not sold on regional power, but definite contender. I hope as I said before, that they are able to shed the junk.:thumb:

I think coach Fraley will do a great job at Greenup County no matter what came into play in the schools decision to hire him as the new head coach but I think the school system at Greenup as a whole needs to stand behind the coaches decisions and not let politics interfere.

I just don't see why your not getting it, the school has a 33year history of politics playing a role in its sports, 1 year less then its existence, why would any person of reason think that its gonna change now, It just aint gonna happen

I don't believe the powers that be want change in the district, not speaking negitively about the current administration or coaching staff, because there's are alot of wonderful people in Greenup.

Maybe it should split into 2 schools....."the two Musketeers" and "South Shore High"....Just kidding
