  1. Doc, you are too well informed on most subjects on BGP, but you fumbled the ball away on declaring the Ram team of 1985 was a District champion. They were not, the sustained many injuries that year and finished under .500. So, you beat a under .500 depleted Rams team. Just a little food, but you do a great job for both schools.
  2. I agree that strength and conditioning are a must in all sports programs and with out it your only wishing to have strong programs. Most pople on here only want things to get better, but your not going to find a single problem to correct and turn the entire direction of the football program around. A single strength and conditioning coach (teacher) sounds great, but just look at all the following: Each sport is different, no so much as different lifts but different types of conditioning during seasons. Basketball players need different lifts during football season, and football players need different lifts during the off season. Baseball players need totally different lifts than basketball players. So, if you have all these players in the strength and conditioning classes throughout the day this would be tough for a single full time person to show attention to every athlete. It would be better if you could place all your football, basketball, baseball players in classes together, but that would be tough from a scheduling situation. I believe the strength and conditioning classes are a good starting point, but remember everything that goes into it. Just remember that nothing works until YOU do.
  3. I keep hearing about GC only having a 41.0 percent winning percentage, let's take a look at all the schools in the area. I believe they all would have a hard time breaching the 41% total. East Carter, West Carter, Lewis County, Fleeming County, Rowan County, Boyd County, Morgan County, Bath County, Fairview, Lawrence County and even Johnson Central had a rough time a few years back. The point is it's tough on all these schools. Folks, they are county schools and the culture of our county schools has changed in the past 15 years. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the only schools in our area that has had strong football programs for the past 20 years are the independent schools: Ashland, Russell and Raceland. As far as revamping the football facilities, that would be great. The BOE has not revamped any of the other sports programs, but they have started in the right direction, they have an excellent high school. Things won't change overnight, so allow the right people to make good choices and don't get bent out of shape if the choices are yours. Thats' the first step in change.
  4. I think I like you Zimmer, but you do need to update your photo. Gullett would be the right choice, but he's from the wrong end you know. Cincinnati HOFer, and most likely a MLB HOFer if not for the bad arm. I'm not sure he coached little league, so that might rule him out.
  5. Here is a thought for Zimmer, let the youth league winner each year go coach the high school team.
  6. I believe we saw the best coached game the state of kentucky has to offer last night, Both sides.
  7. Are the politics in Greenup County isolated in South Shore? Is South Shore the problem? If South Shore is the problem in Greenup County why not split the high school into East West or Greenup County and McKell. If the people of South Shore are tough to get along with then make them compete by themselves. It seems to work in Carter County.
  8. I believe if you asked Coach Lutz they tried to push him out a few years ago, and did for one season.
  9. Willie Blair was another outstanding pitcher, from Johnson Central, Morehead and then went on to throw in the in bigs for about 12-15 years. Mainly with the Detriot Tigers.
  10. it's 5:20 pm and it's over.......... but I hope the Muskies could somehow pull this one out and If they don't pull it out, I believe they will get better this week. Coaches and players have been working hard!
  11. I don't believe the powers that be want change in the district, not speaking negitively about the current administration or coaching staff, because there's are alot of wonderful people in Greenup.
  12. Looks like many schools still run the outdated wishbone with fine results.
  13. If I knew that Greenup had a wireless connection close enough I'd just take this stinkin' laptop. Spindoc, just for you're info only........... wireless connection at GC is great, but you still need to be at Putnam.
