Boyd County Opening

Featured Replies

I believe the Boyd County head coaching position is open.

Any early word on who is being looked at ?

I would personally love to see Pete Fraley get a shot at the job. He has done a wonderful job with the girls program. I doubt he would be interested though as he has a young daughter coming up.

Other than that, I hope they go away from the home town hire and go with someone who has no ties to the program. Someone who won't be influenced by past relationships, someone who will put the best players available on the floor, someone who will let the kids play more than one sport and most importantly someone who is qualified to be a head coach.

Boyd Co. has went down in flames over the past couple of seasons. It will take patience to get them back to their Glory Days! Would Lion fans have ever dreamed a couple of years ago that they would have a 2 win season and those wins coming against Rose Hill? Very sad situation.

Job opening for Boyd County is posted on the schools web site.

Who would be interested in this job, do they have alot returning.

Are they going to throw some money at a big name or hire within?

Slick, I'd be interested in just how many "big names" are out there and willing to come. Any idea?

Who might you be thinking of?

If Zornes came back and left quickly, who else would want to take it?

‰Speaking of juicy subplots, the Point Guard is going to make a no-no by releasing some tidbits of information.

Don’t call them rumors. Let’s call it estimated speculation.

Word spreading at the regional tournament indicates the following: Look for a coaching change to take place as soon as today for Boyd County boys’ basketball. If Dave Wooten has resigned, as is the word, top candidates to take the job are Jeff Hall and, hold on to your seat, Rex Cooksey.

Randy Ward and Chris Barnes have also been mentioned. Hall has coached at Rose Hill and Ashland, but recently coached two years at Glasgow, where his son, Cameron, has graduated.

And, if Tim Fraley does not return to Greenup County, Cooksey has been mentioned as a top candidate for that job as well.

Today, though, Cooksey has other priorities.

For enough cash, you would be amazed at who you could get.

:lol:You're probably right.

They way Boyd Co. is divided on their sports (which to me is one of their problems) Football, Basketball, and Baseball it would cost them a lot more if they paid big money for a basketball coach they would have to pony up to the football and baseball coaches as well.

Boyd Co's problem is that the school system from the top down does not support the programs ie financially, letting the grade schools have teams affliated with schools. Boyd County needs a coach that can be in control of the program from grade school to the varsity level. Boyd County desperately needs a Athletic director to actually do the job.

While some of your post may have merit, the bolded is absolutely not true.

Any word on how the search is going ? The only names I've heard are Cooksey and Hall.

I'd be happy with those choices. I really just want a coach who has no ties to the Boyd County program and won't be influenced by parents and boosters.
