November 6, 200817 yr I agree, kind of hard to play a state championship the first month of your season....... Im sure it has something to do with generating revenue at year end. This is probably going to turn into a huge money maker for the state. Why else would they do this during December? Everyone knows most schools start their season in mid November and play until Feb. Oh well, atleast they are being proactive and creating a fun tournament. :thumb:
November 6, 200817 yr FYI I posted this in KYMSFA Thread as well...On a side note in December 09 the KABC is planning a Middle School Basketball Sweet 16 with regional tournaments and all, there will be regional hosts and a Sweet 16 at Frankfort Civic Center. This is as close to it gets as "real"....unfortunatley some schools/conferences (fayette) will not allow them to participate as they do not start basketball until Jan.......there will always be exceptions! Wish they would start it this year!:irked:
November 7, 200817 yr We were talking about last year's 7th grade Conner team but thanks for the summary. Sounds like their current 7th grade class will compliment the current 8th graders as they move up the ranks. I just remember Conner have some big physical kids. If I am not mistaken I believe the current 8th grade Conner team is 0-5 versus Gray Middle.
November 7, 200817 yr Wish they would start it this year!:irked: I believe this was their origional goal, but the opted to push it back so it could be done correctly. Does anyone know if there is a list of every high school in Kentucky and what middle school (s) feed them? Would be benefical to planning!

Sanders, played hard nose D and unselfish basketball...he sets this teams tempo. November 9, 200817 yr Watched some good games at Lloyd this weekend. In the 8th grade division looked like Twenhofel stood out. They have some nice players outside of Racke on that team. They beat Grey by about 20pts. Connor's 8th grade survived a game with Woodland in OT. Some bad coaching in that game for Woodland. In the 7th grade I thought Connor, Twenhofel looked to be the best teams. Walton has the two best players with McNeil and the red hair boy, but their supporting cast isn't very good. Twenhofel would have beat Connor but the coach was letting all his players play lots of minutes. Where as Connor only played about 6 kids all night. Connor has lots of size and speed and should do well this year. Grey's 7th grade won two games but they need a player other than the big kid to step up and play.
November 9, 200817 yr Update on Summit View's schedule...1st game is Sat. night, 9pm, at St. Henry against St. Pius instead of on Tues. Apparently someone finally realized it was election day. Better late than never I guess! Summit View beat St. Pius 48-41 last night at the St. Henry tourney. The Jags were lead by Sampson with 23, I beleive. Swanson and Huesman were in double digits also. St. Pius is much improved. Looks as if all their talent is playing for them this year. You could tell it was the first game for both...very sloppy play at times and a lot of turnovers.
