Letter from Bob and Walt to Reds fans

I see them adding a RH bat likely in the OF known for some pop and solid at the plate. Working a count is a must here.

There will be at least 2 and maybe 3 mid level guys added to the pen if they don't come from the Dunn/Junior trades.

It will be a lot easier to see what they are thinking if the young position guys stay healthy and get their shot.

This is the first offseason under Jockety, so it's hard to predict as things stand...

The OF FA market is so thin this year. I keep reading Crawford on here, but how realistic is he going to GABP? I can see them maybe making a bid for Pat Burrell. Mark Kotsay would be an upgrade in CF but he's a lefty. I think a RH bat with pop that isn't Milton Bradley has to come through a trade.

Burrell is the name that jumps out at me...

He's about it from the right side in their financial ballpark. Milton Bradley wants to stay in the AL. That's about it in the '09 FA market

I think you also have to involve Keppy in the 1B/3B/LF debate.
Why? He doesn't hit enough to play any of those spots ...
Milton Bradley wants to stay in the AL.
As he should ... his injury history and knees make him a risk as an everyday outfielder.

We already had the Burrell discusssion he is a poor mans Adam Dunn and will command about 10 Mil. I'll pass.

If Dickerson finishes the year as well as he has played to date, he has to be considered as a viable option in the OF. I don't care what his minor league numbers show, he has proven here, so far, that he belongs.

In a perfect world, at least per my thinking, I'd like the see the Reds next season minus E5 and Freel. Upgrade with a solid professional reliable RH OF. In the event that they can make an upgrade to the rotation, great, if not, I don't think that relying on Harang, Volquez, a more mature Cueto and Arroyo as my first 4 is doom and gloom. I'm excited to see what Walt will come up with through the hot stove.

There is no way to tell if he did or not. The only thing we have to go from is what it said. And it said Walt on it.

Seriously.

If you are the GM of a major sports franchise nobody is going to just put your name down on a letter to the fans.

I will say that I don't know how the contracts are at the present time on any of these guys but if possible I would try and move E5 in a deal for another quality starting pitcher (preferrably LHP) if I could. A quality catcher is also needed so maybe that could be an option. I would move Kepp to 3B, I think that he would be a great fit there and be one that could hit for avg. as well.

I know that I keep saying I want a catcher,lol.....but I really do want a good catcher. JMO

Good PR move on their part however I think we're all tired of the talk.
