^ Truth be told, the rest of the world has improved greatly as well, so margin of victory or close games don't mean that much to me.

It really shouldn't be looked at hardly at all.

Another thing on Magic, do not forget he was...

1) Past his prime

2) Had come out of retirement to play on the Dream Team

Magic was a year removed from leading the Lakers to the NBA Finals. He was forced to retire because he was HIV positive. He was past his prime, but he was still playing at a high level.

LBJ would struggle guarding Malone down low. Malone would struggle even more trying to stop James from penetrating.

I agree. The difference, IMO, is that the '92 team could afford to sag on defense and force the Redeem Team to make jump shots...something they don't always do. On the flipside, the '92 team would have a huge advantage in the paint offensively with their frontcourt...not to mention Magic himself could have created a huge mismatch in the post vs. Kidd, Paul or Williams. At worst, he'd have a 5" height advantage.

I'm aware that the new squad would have a speed and athleticism advantage. I think it would be easier for the Dream Team to deal with that by controlling the tempo and forcing the 2008 team to shoot jumpers. I don't see any way the 2008 team could deal with the Dream Team's advantage in the paint.

Top to bottom the 1992 team is better physically and mentally than the 2008 team. That said, win GOLD USA.

Dream Team by 10.

Why?

Why?

As DF said in the post I quoted, the world as a whole has improve immensely. How many NBA players did the '92 team play against?

Dream Team by a 15.

This team has some great scorers, and they play well together, but they lack a dominant center like the 92 team had. It would be a close game, I wouldn't say a blow out. I would say the 92 team by around 10.

The vote is 43 to 3 right now for the Dream Team! I'll go on a limb and say most folks on BGP that were old enough to really remember the Dream Team chose them. Those not young enough probably lean towards the ReDream team. It's a no brainer for me the Dream Team. The only argument I could see is that some of those guys had lost a step. If everybody was in their prime I don't think it would be a game.

Let's wait a few years and see where these guys end up. It's the opposite of the DT. Most of the best players haven't reached their prime yet. I think this hypothetical game would be very intriguing in the young legs vs crafty veterans.

There's just no way that the Dream Team would be this team by double digits... no way.

I could see either team beating the other team by 10. In one game anything can happen. One team shoots 55% and the other shoots 45 and it's lopsided. It could happen to either of them, again hypothetically.

I think that the dream team could about take on the redeem team right now and still give them a heck of a game, if not win.
