Thats the most laughable thing I have ever read on here. Drink some more of the Dream Team cool-aide. You guys are caught up in the notion they are the best thing since sliced bread. I have little doubt in my mind this years team would beat them if they played.

Then you would be saying this year's Olympic team was not much better than the opponents USA was playing in '92. We know that is not the case.

 

Both teams would create matchup problems. Jordan would be difficult to guard because he was in his prime and was, well.... Jordan.

 

Magic and Bird would not be able to contain whomever was thrown their way. I guess Pippen would try to defend Lebron? LeBron, I would assume outweighs Pippen by 30 lbs. As great of a defender Pippen was, he never faced a LeBron type player.

 

Kove vs MJ would be a thing of beauty and I don't think it would be that big of an advantage for either team.

I don't know how many points the '92 Dream Team would win by, but I'd bet it would be double digits. The discrepancy inside would be too much for the new edition to overcome. Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer vs. Ewing, Robinson, Malone and Barkley is a huge mismatch. The new team doesn't have an advantage anywhere. The Dream Team would abuse them in the paint.

I'm not disputing the individual talent on the 2008 team. When these guys finish their careers, the '08 team might look better from an individual perspective. But, the '92 team is constructed better. It's more balanced. Like I said, you can't point out a weakness on the '92 team. But, you can say the '08 squad is suspect inside and their shooting is questionable.

 

I also think the fact that the '92 team had more experience, but they weren't over-the-hill, is a huge factor. Larry Bird was a shell of himself at that point, but could still play at a high level for short amounts. Most of the rest were still at or near their prime.

The matchups are so intersting in this hypothetical. The DT would be favored, but who really knows in a 1 game scenario. Wade, LBJ, and Paul would be tough to guard. Also, if Duncan wouldn't have been frustrated w/ the FIBA setting he would be on this team instead of Prince. They need athleticg bigs to counter the centers that shoot the 3 internationally, but it would be a different team if they were put together to try to beat that team. Some guys on the DT couldn't guard some of the newer guys and vice versa.
