August 15, 200818 yr I read somewhere that Newton said he isn't going to back down from going to a school with a good QB or a good QB coming in also saying that he will see competion whereever he goes. Did you expect him to say "I'm going to back away from Kentucky because they have a good quarterback coming in and I don't want to compete"? I'm not close to the situation, but I don't expect to see him here. Obviously he knows that competition makes you better, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to come in and be "the man" somewhere - and he obviously won't be "the man" by coming into Kentucky because he'll have to battle with Moss, Hartline, Fidler, and possibly Cobb.

My guess is he will be at UK.
August 15, 200818 yr What do we do if Newton commits? Obviously, we will take him with open arms, but we'll have two very good quarterbacks and one of them will have to be on the bench. I have a weird feeling that with Moss, Newton will commit somewhere for that reason. We have a party!!! :dancingpa

IIRC, its between Florida and UK. Florida already has a commit from Jordan Reed (3* or 4*) in '09, and Trey Burton in '10. Plus they have a pair of 4* guys from 07. Fidler, Hartline, and Lentz are 2* guys. Moss is 4*. So between the 2 schools, he's got a better shot at UK.
August 15, 200818 yr Trust me, I'll be more than excited if he commits to Kentucky, and just knowing that we're battling for these top guys and getting some (Moss) is a huge step foward for Kentucky. I just don't see him at Kentucky... or Florida. Newton is a top-notch quarterback, and he'll be unbelivable wherever he goes. It would be great to have him, especially if Moss decides to go the baseball route.
August 16, 200818 yr I hope the Cats get him, but it's kinda weird. His 1st choice is ND, but he said they have too much QB depth, and he would look elsewhere. Then he likely will choose a team that just signed a 4* QB. Seems odd, but I hope it works out for all. Go Cats!

August 17, 200818 yr I know this is going to sound unbelievable, but when I said I didn't see him at Kentucky or Florida, I honestly saw him going to Clemson. Now, coincidently, he is down to Clemson and another school, says his mother.

August 18, 200818 yr Announcement has been pushed to Thursday. Supposedly, the Colts got something big planned for Tuesday, so they are pushing it back another couple of days.
August 21, 200818 yr About 15 minutes til his decision time. Anyone know if there's a local news station carrying it online? I remembery Aaron Boyd's announcement being carried via the internet.
