That touch on the wall literally came down to who has the longer fingernails. Absolutely amazing.

Glad our anchor looked older, they rarely have to trim as much:p

Probably the Chinese lol.

Probably right.

NBC just aired it again, just unbelievable looking at the replays. 8 tenths of a second was the difference between 1st and 2nd.

For those of you that couldn't watch the race it went something like this.

"Wow I think we can take these Frenchies,"

"Hmmm now I see why they're saying they're so good, but we're pretty good looking still too"

"Are they pulliing away"

"Crap they're gonna talk smack and win, this stinks"

"WE'RE GAINING ON THEM!"

"Wait no we aren't..."

"HOLY CRAP YES WE ARE! COULD WE PULL THIS OFF?"

"OH MY GOSH WE JUST WON, WE WON, WE WON!"

All of this was followed by standing up wherever you were, who ever you were, and giving a huge Tiger Woods(also an American) fist pump.

This was definitely the best part of my weekend, and I had a rather nice weekend.

I can't believe you didn't have your daughter up watching the swim events. :D

We made her go to bed after Phelps swam his prelim. I dvr'ed it for them and they just watched it before school. My husband and I lied and said we didn't stay up to watch it so they wouldn't know what happened.:sssh: It was so awesome watching it again AND watching my kids' reactions! :dancingpa

For those of you that are not swimmers, for Lezak to chase that Frenchie sprinter down took almost superhuman strength. I still have no idea how he out-touched him--he was still behind with one meter to go! Lezak more than made up for any of his earlier problems!

My wife and I were watching it in bed and she went to sleep so I kept watching with the sound off. She woke up during the 4th leg and and asked what's going on?I told her unless there is a miracle the French are going to win, then all the sudden bamm a miracle finish! What a 4th leg by the "old guy".

I just got goosebumps watching that again. WOW!!! The commentators did an amazing job though as well. So excited and into the race.

He went over and tapped the Frenchman on the head then shook hands. That added even more insult to the loss by the class he showed after snapping up the Gold!

Has to rank as one of the top sports moments of all time. I am in awe of witnessing it.

I love how they won graciously too...didn't direct anything at the French with their actions, nor in their interview.

Yep...I loved that too. When given the choice, it's always best to take the high road and just kill 'em with kindness.

I woke PH up yelling last night. What a great, wonderful, sweet race!!!!

I watched this race and started cheering very loud when the USA won. I was very happy to see the USA win after the French talked trash!

Probably right.

Oh no... 8 hundredths of a second was the difference. The underwater camera looked like a dead heat. The U.S. anchor swam an absolutely PERFECT race - drafted during the first 50 and won it over the last 20 meters. The French anchor will never be able to get over this one.

I'm not a fan of swimming but man oh man was that ever a moment and the Frenchies made it all the sweeter as did it being a world record and the dramatic come from behind photo finish AWESOME!

Luckily for the French, they won't hurt their necks looking up at our boys on the podium, they're noses are already stuck that way...

In all honesty, is there anything better than seeing a poolside group of French guys nearly in tears because they were backhanded yet once again and put in to place? This race has made me smile ever since last night.
