August 7, 200818 yr His value on my fantasy roster just shot way up IMO. He just had 6 TD's on 55 catches last season but I agree. Of course, his & the other receivers (Cotchery) value just shot way up.
August 7, 200818 yr Anybody seen the MJD commerical where he said to keep Farve's picture on there but put his name on the bottom. I like MJD!
August 7, 200818 yr He just had 6 TD's on 55 catches last season but I agree. Of course, his & the other receivers (Cotchery) value just shot way up. He also missed a few games and had Clemens as his QB, not Favre.
August 7, 200818 yr I bet that Favre jersey wearing kid is devastated. I wonder if he'll keep wearing it...
August 7, 200818 yr Too bad Favre doesn't have a decent receiving corps to toss the pigskin to. 6 different Jets players combined to catch a total of 15 TD's last season. Yeah, it would help if they had a decent QB throwing them the ball (they do now) but still, that's pathetic. Coles is okay but that's about it. I think it makes Cotchery a great sleeper.
August 7, 200818 yr Oh, yes, the personnel. Fantasy owners need only look at Greg Jennings and, to a lesser extent, James Jones for evidence that Favre can make stars quickly. Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery aren't household fantasy names, and haven't been every-week contributors with noodle-armed Chad Pennington or erratic Kellen Clemens throwing to them. But each man sees his value rise for '08. Can Coles be the deep threat Favre needs to show off his still-big-enough arm? He definitely has the speed, but will he get the green light? After all, he was a mind-numbing 72nd in the NFL in yards per reception last season. I'll say this, though: the Jets would be first-class dopes if that stat stays low again in '08. Rookie tight end Dustin Keller also gets a bit of fantasy juice, Donald Lee-style. http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?id=3523019 Favre deal should boost value of many Jets
August 7, 200818 yr Favre Jets jersey already available on their home site...One slight problem though...The page won't load. Getting a little ahead of themselves. http://www.newyorkjets.com/
August 7, 200818 yr Conditional Pick becomes 1st round pick if Favre plays 80% of the snaps & the Jets make the Super Bowl.
August 7, 200818 yr Conditional Pick becomes 1st round pick if Favre plays 80% of the snaps & the Jets make the Super Bowl. I thought it was if the Jets WON the super bowl. And that 1st round pick would only be the 31st or 32nd pick depending on if they won it or made it, so it would be darn near close to a 2nd rounder anyways. It can be a 2nd rounder if Favre plays 70% of the snaps and the Jets make the playoffs, right?
August 7, 200818 yr Any chance the Jets trade Favre to Minnesota and give up THREE 1st round picks??? I loved that stipulation. I think it's a good move by the Jets since they will only give up a mid round pick but I would rather see #4 retired than see him struggle to get to .500 in New York. This should also help with selling a few PSL's for next season since he's always game for one more season.
August 7, 200818 yr Maybe ESPN can find something else to talk about now. This will be the story all season...hopefully my body will build up an immunity to the words Brett Favre and it will quit triggering my gag reflex. Of course, maybe if the words Brett Favre aren't accompanied by retirement, it won't be so bad.
August 7, 200818 yr I was really hoping Favre would end up on a title contender, especially after his near miss last season. Jets may make the playoffs, but this could just turn out to be a step above Emmit Smith as a Cardinal. Could happen, but on the bright side Favre can look forward to Dancing with the Stars! That would be a blast imo.
