I'm really in your boat. I'm waiting to see how they weather the first few weeks of this schedule before I get overly excited. I remember that last year Boyle played Lex Cath very well in the regular season and hopefully this team will use those kind of games, the changes that have occurred, and natural maturity to springboard back "into the hunt." :thumb:

Ignore my ignorance, the class I know the least about:

 

1. Have the Rebels returned? From losing season to title contender?

 

2. North Bullitt...typically overrated, starts off at #4?

 

3. Rockcastle loses head coach and most talent, still picked ahead of Knox Central?

 

We should get a handle on Knox Central rather quickly this season. They open the season with Clay County, Corbin, and Bell County. Coach Mills expects to have his most athletic team since coming to Knox with most of the skill players returning. The key will be rebuilding both lines and how soon it happens.

I can tell you this, if Boyle County continues to make progress everyone in 4A better watch out, they have all the tools for another special season. Rockcastle has a lot, a lot of improving to do if they want to compete. The 4A title comes down to the winner of Boyle and LexCath, and Bell in the semifinals, period. This is a 3 horse race.

 

If it is a 3 horse race that includes an totally unproven Boyle Co. team full of kids who will be on the field who were simply fans of the great Boyle run, then I would say that it is more like a 6-7 horse race. To put Boyle right now in the same catagory as Lex. Cath. and Bell is silly.

I agree. Nothing against North Bullit, but both Franklin Simpson and Warren East return just as much as North Bullitt, and their two Cissell-like premier players, Courtney Dalcourt and Shenard Holton, are far more explosive and highly recruited than Noth Bullitt's trump card.

 

That being said, I do not disagree that East, FS, and N. Bullitt are in the same boat.

Cissell is a decent back, but from what I saw, the Reynolds kid was their best all-around player. He was a huge loss for them.

 

I felt Warren East was better than North Bullitt last year, and I won't be surprised if they are again. The Raiders' speed and athleticism may be the difference, although there are four or five teams in Region 1 that could get to the semifinals.

The BGP poll was published in the Murray Ledger & Times on Tuesday. Think Calloway's about where they should be at #9. Could maybe be a notch higher. They do have LOTS of weapons offensively. Key will be defensive improvement, which should be apparent too.

I like where the Rebels of Boyle County are rated!!!!

They (Greenup County) have a lot of talent and more depth this year, some good, talented, strong sophomores that will make a direct impact to the team this year. The first part of the season, if they don't get banged up, will make them stronger, which is what you need to win it all...

Looking at Calloways schedule they should win 7-8 games in the regular season. Many of the teams they are playing are WAY down from where they have been in the past. According to the Bluegrass Preps rankings Marshall County is ranked 34th out of 37 teams and Graves is ranked #35 out of 37 teams in 6-A. Also Muhlenburg North is ranked 33rd out of 35 teams in 4-A and Fulton County is the 28th best team of 41 in 1-A and Crittenden is 11th of 41 in 1-A but there is talk that their best player(Sorina) has moved. That should be 5 guaranteed wins with Murray, Hopkins Central, Lone Oak, Trigg, and Mayfield being toss ups. I say 7-3 regular season.

WESTKY - how about 8-2 or 9-1 for Lakers? Trigg and Mayfield both had big time graduation hits and CC beat Mayfield by 35 last season. CC looks to have most all of their big offensive guns back. No way Murray-Calloway is a tossup on paper, but it is a big rivalry game. Hop Central will be their biggest test.

I agree, but if I were to depend on a group of sophs, I would pick this one. They have been great since 2nd Grade.
