I agree, but if I were to depend on a group of sophs, I would pick this one. They have been great since 2nd Grade.

WESTKY - how about 8-2 or 9-1 for Lakers? Trigg and Mayfield both had big time graduation hits and CC beat Mayfield by 35 last season. CC looks to have most all of their big offensive guns back. No way Murray-Calloway is a tossup on paper, but it is a big rivalry game. Hop Central will be their biggest test.

 

I don't seem to think that last year's score will have an impact on this year's game.....if anything I think it puts more pressure on Calloway. this has been going on with Mayfield and Graves Co. also. Last year Mayfield wins 19-0, and the year before Graves whooped Mayfield 28-0. I just think lots of pressure comes with Calloway's win last year.....

 

I do think you mentioned all the games that are tossups for Calloway.....Trigg, Mayfield, Hopkins CC, and Lone Oak....Calloway does have lots of skill coming back this year, and it really wouldn't shock me THAT MUCH if they went undefeated in the regular season b/c they have a great shot at beating everyone on their schedule. It could happen, right?

That wouldn't shock me either, but any team has to get some breaks along the way for something special like that to happen. Still don't think Mayfield stacks up well against Calloway for this fall. And, the game's at Calloway this year. Good luck to the Lakers. See if they can be the "feel good" team of the season in WKY like Lone Oak was last year.

 

3. Rockcastle loses head coach and most talent, still picked ahead of Knox Central?

 

They return almost everyone except their MLB and TE in Zack Burkhart. He was an outstanding player though. I believe they have 7-8 returning on offense and the same on defense.

I am glad to see the Raiders from McCreary Co. moving up a little in the pre-season polls. I haven't talked with the coaches lately but last I heard they were having a real good preseason with 40 or so players out. I think everyone hopes they win 5 or 6 games and makes another trip to the playoffs. I can't wait for the season to begin. Good luck to all!

I think a #7 ranking from a team that lost in the second round last year is respectable. Several teams ahead of them have tons coming back.

You have to earn respect first. All of these rankings are made by predictions, such as W-L record the year before and starters returning.
