Kansas at 3 and UK at 4...I would have gone UK at 3, but with a title this year and the fact that UK will lose points for their probation, I'm guessing KU will have more points. After that, it's tough... UConn, Arizona, Louisville, Syracuse, Georgetown, UCLA, Arkansas, and Florida are all teams I'd be curious to see totals on.

Utah made the tournament a bunch of years in a row and have been very good in their conference. Their conference play and consistent good records I thought would have them around #20. And as for Florida, I thought they were good enough to probably get up to around 15 with 4 final 4s, 2 nat'l titles and another championship game.

You may be surprised to see the Racers this high in the rankings as the highest true mid-major. It's not surprising when you consider how rock-solid they have been. Since 1984-85, they have had at least a share of the best record in the Ohio Valley Conference 13 times. That's a number only Kansas and Penn can match. They've had all this success without a single first-round NBA draft pick. The downside is that Murray State has lost its past 10 NCAA tournament games. The Racers win a tiebreaker with Villanova thanks to a .669-.608 winning percentage advantage.
July 23, 200818 yr I see I wasn't too far off of Florida's actual tally, which I'm betting is courtesy of some All-Americans. I didn't think they'd be out of the top 20 though. IMO, Michigan State won't make the top 10 either.

The ACC, SEC, Big 12, & Pac-10 will have the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th highest averages respectively. That is true as to how the conferences are today. But I think it may inflate the Big East just a little if you are trying to rank these conferences over the entire time period established by Espn. I think that the ACC still has a valid arguement to be #1, considering the accomplishment of Duke and UNC. 40% of the remaining Big East schools have only been in the conference a couple of years. Maybe the Beast would still be #1, but without UL and UC it has got to be very close.
