As a Michigan fan I do not see how you can say they would take a dose in the SEC. Michigan owns the SEC when they play them.

 

I am a die hard Michigan fan. I bleed maize and blue, but I'm under no hallucinations about Michigan tearing up the SEC on an annual basis. They had a huge win vs. Florida and I was very happy with that, but playing in the conference is a whole other beast.

I like the SEC the best but I think it is going to be a big year for the big 12. Should be pretty close to even.

LSU vs. Texas- Wash... Texas was not very good last season, but LSU lost a ton of talent. I'd still give a slight edge to LSU as they will still have one of the best defenses in the country.

 

Tennessee vs. Kansas- Wash... both teams had solid seasons and return a load of talent. I'd give the slight edge to Kansas actually as they did make and win a BCS game last season unlike UT.

 

Auburn vs. Texas Tech- Texas Tech would have nightmares of Auburn's phsyical defense and fast DB's. his ain't Baylor or OK State we are talkin' about here. Big advantage Auburn

 

South Carolina vs. Nebraska- Nebraska plain and simplly stunk last season...advantage SC

 

Miss. State vs. Oklahoma State- Pretty even matchup but Sylvester Croom's Bulldogs should continue to overachieve. Advantage MSU

 

Alabama vs. Texas A&M- No comparison.... Big Advantage Alabama.

 

Ole Miss vs. Colorado- Ole Miss is not as good as people think they will be. They stunk last year. Advantage Colorado.

 

Arkansas vs. Iowa State- Both teams will struggle, but I think Arkansas would struggle less. Advantage Arkansas.

 

Kentucky vs. Kansas State- UK wil simply be better.. Advantage UK

 

Vandy vs. Baylor- Both teams are the cellar dwellars of their conference... Baylor lost less.. Advantage Baylor

 

 

I am slanted towards SEC but I have it 9-2 in favor of the Southern boys...

The Big 12 ought to be very good this season. They have several teams which return most of their starters. Texas Tech for example brings back everyone on offense except for WR Danny Amendola.

 

Also look for Zac Robinson to improve his #'s at Oklahoma State, now that he will have the QB job full time.

Those are all the games between the Big 10 and the SEC since 2002. It proves "The Big Ten is nowhere close to the SEC from top-to-bottom" to be an unsupported argument. I would say the SEC is probably a little better than the Big Ten but not by remotely as much as SEC fans think.

This year and last, no. Over the last 15 years, yes.

Michigan is typically the #2 team from the Big 10, but they are generally playing the 3rd best SEC team if not 4th or 5th... last season Florida was arguably the 4th or 5th best SEC team behind LSU and Georgia for sure, and very possibly Auburn and Tennessee.

That is completely false. Michigan was the Big ten#3 last year. This is the misconception with the big ten. As much as I love the Wolverines they are not always the Big Ten #1 or #2. The same could be said for Ohio State through the years. The Big Ten is deeper than almost anyone thinks. 7 out of 11 teams have gone to a BCS bowl game!

I am not trying to say that the SEC is bad. It is a great conference, but the others such as the Big Ten can compete and over the years have had better years than the SEC. I personaly would love to see the bowl games come up north and see these teams compete in Ann Arbor, Madison or Columbus on a cold January day. That would be a true test for these teams.

I agree that it would be tough, but who knows? Thats what makes the old IF'n game(I believe thats what Bear Bryant called it) that we are playing so much fun!!!:thumb::thumb:
