I agree. The Pac-10 top-to-bottom always is a tough out. They are not quite as good as the SEC, but they have one kingpin (USC) and then several teams who you need to strap it up hard to play on any given Saturday (Cal, Oregon, Arizona St., UCLA, and in any gven year Arizona and Oregon St.). They also play a different brand of football than the SEC that is a nice change of pace. I think the SEC is best, then Pac-10 and then the Big-12 and Big-10 can fight it out for third.

This is good info. I thought it interesting that the SEC has 3 titles, but have had only 3 opportunities. My memory is terrible so I ask, of the title games that didnt have an SEC representative, how many SEC teams could make an arguement for having got to the title game but didnt??:confused:

 

I know Auburn was in that situation when Jason Campbell was QB.

By my count, that's 15 BCS appearances by the SEC and 14 by the Big XII...I did count that on the fly though, so it may be off.

This is very interesting, when the "BIG" Big East football schools went to the ACC, many said the Big East should lose their bid. It appears to me that the ACC should lose their bid. The proof is in the numbers, the SEC is the top dog.

 

I would argue that PAC 10 is two, and the rest is hit or miss, with the exception of the ACC and Notre Dame. They should have their "privelages" revoked. LOL

My only arguement against the PAC 10 would be - USC is 5 of their 8 wins and is the only team from the conference to play in a BCS game in 5 years. You have to go back 7 years to get another winner from the PAC. I agree with oldrambler, right now, to me the Pac10 is "USC and the 9 dwarfs"

I love that the Big12, Big11, and ACC all have losing records.

Three years ago I would have said the BigTen was a clear 2nd, but 4 straight BCS losses has eliminated that. USC is probably the best team but one team is not a conference. If you're talking top to bottom, personally I would have to give a slight nod to the Big 12, followed by a virtual tie for 3rd between the PAC, Big Ten, and Big East. A valid argument could be made for why each is slightly better than the other.

The ACC is the weakest BCS conference bar none. Additionally, when your top 3 teams in terms of bCS appearances are Miami, FSU, and Virginia Tech, and you examine all the off field problems and trouble these schools have had... it just stacks up against them even further.

 

...and don't even get me started on Notre Dame!

Saw a thing that had the 50 best OOC games of the season....The SEC was tops with 16 of those games, 7 of which were on the road. The Big 12 had only 1 road game in the top 50....

I think Georgia is probably the best team in the country, but they have one real tough stretch in their schedule. @ LSU, Fla (in Jacksonville), @ UK, and @ Auburn. Having to play LSU the week before may give the Gators the SEC East title. Three roads and a neutral. They won't have a home game for a month. That's a tough row to hoe.

I would definitely rate the the Pac-10 second behind the SEC.

 

I can't believe this is being brought up. Now doesn't seem like the ideal time to challenge the SEC's supremacy considering the conference has dominated the last two title games.

 

But, that aside, I found this sentence interesting...

 

Only five leagues - the SEC, Pac-10, Big 12, Big Ten and ACC - can even really argue for it, although the Big East, with teams located in talent-rich areas, may soon re-justify its preferred seat at the BCS table.

 

IMO, since we've had the Big East and ACC in their current forms, the Big East has made a better showing nationally than the ACC. The ACC, in no way, shape, or form can argue for conference supremacy. I think you can debate whether they should be rated ahead of the Big East...

I still think the Big Ten is the second best conference behind the SEC. Playing a Big Ten schedule week after week will take its toll. They are SO physical and the speed is good also, although not near as good as the SEC. The Ohio States and the Michigans of the world are obvious but playing at places like Minnesota, Mich State, Purdue, and Northwestern is tough, not to mention Penn State. These teams are kinda like the SEC in that they beat up on themselves so much that it is hard to keep a sterling record and when things happen like last years Appy State debacle, it jars the country's confidence(look at how Mich finished)!!!:thumb:
