I still think the Big Ten is the second best conference behind the SEC. Playing a Big Ten schedule week after week will take its toll. They are SO physical and the speed is good also, although not near as good as the SEC. The Ohio States and the Michigans of the world are obvious but playing at places like Minnesota, Mich State, Purdue, and Northwestern is tough, not to mention Penn State. These teams are kinda like the SEC in that they beat up on themselves so much that it is hard to keep a sterling record and when things happen like last years Appy State debacle, it jars the country's confidence(look at how Mich finished)!!!:thumb:

 

I'd take the Pac-10 or the Big 12 over the Big Ten anyday. If Ohio State plays in either one of those conferences they don't go to the title game the last two years.

I love that the Big12, Big11, and ACC all have losing records.

 

I love the fact that everyone is always saying the BEast should lose their BCS bid, when these numbers clearly show that isn't the case.

I'm not a Big East Fan, but I'm not a hater either. IMO the SEC is first, the Big 12 gets a slight nod for second, the BE is tied for third with Big Ten & PAC 10, and the ACC is a clear 6th.

 

The BE's 3-0 in their last three BCS games. And their overall bowl record the last two years is pretty impressive also. They are definitely not a weak sister.

Wisconsin has a very favorable schedule this year. They could very easily go undefeated, win the Big Ten, and have a shot at the national title game.

Wonder what the preseason Vegas line is on Wisky winning it. A lot has to go right but it is doable.

I think part of the problem with the Big East is that they don't have enough teams. I believe that the preception is that it is easier to win the Big East because there is less competition.

 

I also think that while the member schools have had some very good teams in recent years, many of the members just simply haven't been very good a football in the past. Outside of Pitt and WVA, Big East school really aren't know for their football programs.

 

Even UL as good as they have been, really haven't been on the national radar all that long comparatively to the good teams in other conferences. USF, Cincy, Rutgers even UConn had good teams last year, but I think that these schools need to maintain that level of play for awhile before they will be seen in the same light as the Bama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee's of the world.

 

The Beast is a better football conference than it is often given credit for. Personally I would like to see them add at least 2 more quality members. (I wish all BCS conferences would go to 12) I think a little more quality depth would do a lot to change the preception of the conference.

As a Michigan fan I do not see how you can say they would take a dose in the SEC. Michigan owns the SEC when they play them.

Michigan is typically the #2 team from the Big 10, but they are generally playing the 3rd best SEC team if not 4th or 5th... last season Florida was arguably the 4th or 5th best SEC team behind LSU and Georgia for sure, and very possibly Auburn and Tennessee.
