More hits for UL....

I don't think that there is any question that Louisville has problems, a lot of them.

It's easy to kick a team when they're down, especially when your teams best season in years was only 7-5....

As someone said earlier, it's college football. You have bad years, mediocre years and great years. Every program in football goes through it, this is UL's time. No reason to get all bent out of shape, it will pass in time. :thumb:

the pronounced demise of the UofL program is a tad premature.

As was the pronounced leap to elite wouldn't you say?

No.

No.

 Really?

So in the year that they were going to contend for the National Title (said all of you) they miss a bowl game completely and that wasn't premature?

Funny how people so conveniently forget this.

In a bad season UofL barely lost to one of UK's best teams ever, barely lost to a potential NC contender in West Virginia, got jobbed in a loss to UConn, and beat a strong Cincy and Rutgers team.

I'm not going to deny that things aren't looking as rosy as they had but only a year ago, but the pronounced demise of the UofL program is a tad premature.

All it will take is a very likely win against UK and the ship will right itself. All the adversity is as likely creating a spring board for redemption, as it is dragging the team down.

It was a bad season but UL was top 10 and a highly thought of before they implosion.

This recent success of UL has been built on sand not concrete, with the loss of so many players. The sheer lack of scholarship players over the next few years is going to hurt them. I see after this year a 3-4 year rebuilding job for Kragthorpe or whoever else.

Combine this with an ever improving league, the future is not so bright. This upcoming season is absolutely critical for UL and Kragthorpe. They go anything less than 7-5, it will get ugly. Not exactly what you want heading into stadium expansion, which is now beginning to look like a folly.

UC is on much firmer footing, IMO.

Oh how quickly it turns to a "we're better than you" argument.

:thumb: and very predicctable,

:thumb: Plus, as for in this case the weak "we are better than you" defense, I didn't seem to hear any U.K. fans screaming "eilite" or NC contender either.

No.

Put the drink down and back away from the keyboard s-l-o-w-l-y.

I have a "premature" joke in mind here but it has to do with another subject all together:D....but is very similar to this as well. Nah, I am not gonna do it, is way too easy.

So, let me get this one straight. Because U.L. lost (and barely is still an "L";)_ and are blaming the referees for a couple of more "L's" that means that U.L. was still an elite?

Next question.....will your "very likely" as you call it (and I would think that U.L. fans would be very careful in predicting anything after last season) win over U.K. really right the ship? Thanks for the compliment and the assuption that U.K. will be highly enough ranked to consider that one a major win. Other than a win over a rival, it is hardly a statement game.:D When U.K. beat/exposed U.L. last season it was a big win over a rival, that's it. (the Cards were ranked at that time though, although it was what turned out to be "overrated").

Seems to me like that U.L. fans would just take their serving of crow like other teams fans usually do and be done with it, that is jmo though so do what you want.

If you are talking about a single year, sure. But Your implication that after a decade of success a simple .500 record means they didn't deserve any reputation they earned is ridiculous.
I agree in that they have came a long way in 20 years. As for your comment on U.K. fans making fun of U.L., I don't rmemer any U.K. fans calling the Cats an elite national power and predicting a national championship. That to me is what is was funny and why a lot of U.K. fans were piling it on, that is all that U.K. fans were hearing and all of the slams from U.L.fans when you were beating te Cats. That to me is fine and expected. Just that some U.L. fans shouldn't get all bent out of shape when all of their running off at the mouth before the last season came back to bite them in the butt.

Well, the Cats also weren't a few plays away from playing in the title game, and many on here would argue that they would've beaten OSU (I am sure you wouldn't)....that said, they were right there, and I feel they'll get to that level again, sooner rather than later.

I'm saying 9-3 was a very close prospect. UofL isn't coming off a 2-10 season like UK fans seem to think.

It is only "a win over a rival" but in it the program can rid itself of some of the nastier negativity.

Could you feel hypocrisy smack you as you wrote this? If they'd have let you, there would have been a parade in Lexington.

Well you might be right on one thing, we simply aren't as experienced at losing as you guys are. Please show us how its done.

As far as the "elite" discussion goes. I never said UofL was an elite program. Now, they were an elite team for a couple of years.

One 6-6 season doesn't take away from the success of previous season. Heck, 6-6 would be a success at a lot of schools in the bluegrass area. I think the dissapointment, by the UofL fans, of a mediocre season shows just how far the program has came.

As for this year version of the governors cup, I see it to be a pretty close match-up. UK should have the better defense, and UofL should have the better offense.

So do Kidney stones, but they sure are painful to deal with until they do!!!!!!:D

Saying they are the "next Miami" was certainly premature.
