July 6, 200818 yr Could someone change the thread title? This is a bit of a huge spoiler. I haven't even watched the fight yet, but now I know the winner. :irked:

July 6, 200818 yr Author Utterly disappointed I am...I mean how? Forrest can take a beating, and always get's cut, didn't even watch the fight, but according to a friend that did.... Said I might as well have been comentating based on what took place.:fire:
July 6, 200818 yr I watched the fight...It could have went either way. Going into the last round I had Griffin winning two rounds, and Jackson winning two. The last round looked like both fighters thought they had it won and didn't want to do something to give the other the advantage. How the judges gave this to Griffin unaminously is beyond me.

IMO the leg kicks alone in the final round was enough for Forrest to win. I had him winning three rounds.
July 6, 200818 yr Forrest took a beaten but I bet Rampage is limping today and is still icing his entire leg all night. Good fight though. I thought Forrest was gonna take it in the 3rd when he got the leg triangle on.

Several points/personal opinions... I don't think the reigning champion should lose a decision if there isn't a clear winner. Personally, I had Rampage winning rounds 1, 3 and 4. While he may have landed less total strikes, the ones he did land did more damage, IMO. But, the fight was close and I knew it was likely to go Forrest's way. I thought it was quite similar to Rampage vs. Henderson...the whole fight and virtually every round was close. Rampage just came up short. Forrest did a great job of executing his game plan. Assuming Chuck beats Rashad Evans, Forrest will get an opportunity to complete a pretty impressive trifecta...Shogun, Rampage and the Ice Man. Or, Chuck is going to get his belt back. I really, really hope Liddell beats Evans, because Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans doesn't have much ring to it as a LHW title fight.

Jackson may have landed less strikes than Griffin did leg kicks, but the severity of his punches had Griffin millimeters from losing the fight on several occasions. Jackson may have been limping on his left leg for most of the fight, but he was never hurt in a way that made him unable to defend himself and Griffin was almost knocked out plenty of times. Once he even crumbled at Jackson's feet, but recovered nicely. Being that the fight was very close, or at least we thought it was, I thought Jackson did enough to retain the belt. Or maybe Griffin could have done a little bit more to leave less doubt in the minds of guys like you and me. But the bottom line is the judges scored the fight in his favor. The full mount Jackson was never able to get out of may have been what sealed the deal for the judges even though it was in Round 2.
July 6, 200818 yr This fight really makes me question the integrity of the UFC. NO WAY you take a man's belt like that. It was a pretty even fight. I had Rampage winning three rounds. I can't believe he lost the belt because of a few leg kicks. Oh well, Griffen is the UFC "Ultimate Fighter" poster boy. Dana White and crew love this, it is free advertising for their freaking reality show. Even if you do think/score Griffen as the winner. Could you call it UNANIMOUS????

I hate to say it, but I was pondering the same thoughts last night about Dana King, I mean Don White. Dang it, I mean Dana White.
