July 6, 200818 yr Im going to watch it again but after watching it last night I thought Forest deserved the win. I dont care if you were rooting for Forest or Rampage, that was a freakin sweet fight. That fight alone was worth the money.
July 6, 200818 yr I thought Griffin won the fight. Even if you had Rampage winning rounds 3 and 4, which I thought were even, Forrest destroyed him in Round 2 worse than Rampage beat him in any other round. Griffen kicked him in his leg, and laid on him in the full mount. That ain't destroying somebody. He should've inflicted a lot of damage in round 2 and didn't. That blow Rampage hit him in the first was just as damaging. It was an even fight, therefore the title should not of changed hands.

He dominated every bit of the second round. I don't see how it was a unanimous decision. Even if you give more points to Griffen for owning the second round, I think the last three rounds were even and at least one of them should have gone Jackson's way. It was an entertaining fight, but Rampage didn't match up well with Forest. I like Griffin, but I'm not crazy about him being champion.
July 6, 200818 yr Sounds like more of a personal problem. Don't read it if you dont want to know. Um...it's kind of hard to ignore a THREAD TITLE. I didn't read the first post at all so I didn't know how it ended, but having the finish in the thread title is a spoiler for some.
July 6, 200818 yr Here's my views on the fight. I just watched it due to being at a family event last night. Forrest got beat in round 1, 10-9. I think it was a great round for both guys until Rampage landed the bomb. Round 2 possibly could have been scored 10-8 for Forrest. He landed devastating leg kicks that hurt Rampage BADLY, then he took him to the ground and dominated. He got the mount and landed punches and almost got a key lock/kimura a couple of times as well. Round 3 was close. Forrest did nearly land a triangle choke. He only let go so that he did not have to suffer a trademark Rampage slam. I'd say 10-9 Forrest. Round 4 was close as well. Could have gone either way. Round 5 was a win for Forrest IMO as well. 10-9 Forrest. So if you score it, 9-10, 10-8, 10-9, 9-10, 10-9 for Griffin, you get a 48-46 win for Forrest Griffin. A couple of judges scored the bout 48-46 if I remember correctly.
July 6, 200818 yr In reality, Rampage was landing some big punches, but only one came close to stopping the fight. Forrest hurt Rampage with leg kicks, mounted him, almost submitted him numerous times with key locks, kimura's and then the triangle choke as well. Forrest landed some punches from the outside and even some on the inside as well. Rampage didn't score any big take downs, sub attempts or near KO's other than in round 1. It wasn't a dominating victory by any means for Forrest, but I think Forrest won. I'd LOOOOVE to see a re-match. There are so many possibilities at light heavyweight in the UFC now.
July 6, 200818 yr Everybody I was with felt the second round was 10-8 Griffin. I probably agree too, but I give the champ the edge in the two close rounds and give him round one, easily. Thus an even fight, and I can't (if I am scoring it) give away the belt in an even fight. It was a good fight.
July 7, 200818 yr Um...it's kind of hard to ignore a THREAD TITLE. I didn't read the first post at all so I didn't know how it ended, but having the finish in the thread title is a spoiler for some. So don't make a final result post just because HB20 hasn't seen the fight? Thats crazy.
July 7, 200818 yr  So don't make a final result post just because HB20 hasn't seen the fight? Thats crazy. There is nothing wrong with a post. But for the sake of people who have not been able to watch, why not post "UFC 86 Results *SPOILERS INSIDE*" ? Is that too much to ask? Sorry if I had family obligations and did not expect to see the results in the THREAD TITLE. I opened up this forum expecting to maybe see a thread on UFC 86, not a thread telling the results. It's called courtesy. It's not crazy at all. Thankfully, I didn't know how the fight ended because I did not read the thread. It was still exciting to watch but I'd much rather not known that Forrest won going into the fight.

A couple of judges scored the bout 48-46 if I remember correctly. I scored it alot like you did. I had it 48-46 Griffen after watching it a second time. Thats how two judges scored it and one just had it 49-46 which I have no idea how he got that. Round 1- Close round that I actually had Forest winning until he got dropped with the uppercut. After that punch Rampage didnt do any damage the rest of the round but since he had the knock down I had to give the round to him. 10-9 Rampage. Round 2- As everyone knows Forest dominated. I gave him the round 10-8. I know he didnt do a ton of damage on the round but the reason I scored it 10-8 is because Page did absolutely NOTHING that round. If you only score it 10-9 Griffin I can understand that as well. Round 3- Was a pretty close round but I thought Forest was the agressor as he was most of the fight and got the better of the exchanges. Griffin didnt land the harder shots but I thought he landed more strikes and cleaner strikes than Rampage. 10-9 Griffin. Round 4- Another semi close round but I think Rampage won the round clearly. 10-9 Jackson. Round 5- If you scored round 2 10-8 then I think Forest was in the lead going into this round. If you had it 10-9 then I think the winner of this round won the fight. I clearly had Forest winning the round 10-9. I think you would have a hard time making a case for this round to go to Quinton. My Scorecard: Griffin 9 10 10 9 10 48 Jackson 10 8 9 10 9 46 Awesome, awesome fight. Probably fight of the year so far in my eyes. I think it was better than Frank Shamrock/ Cung Le which was what I had as fight of the year til last night.
July 7, 200818 yr How can you give Griffin a 10-8 score in round 2 if Jackson never was hurt? He was in a compromising position, but never once was he hurt. To me its a definite 10-9 round in Forrest's favor, but I think you and the judges scored it the same.

To me its a definite 10-9 round in Forrest's favor, but I think you and the judges scored it the same. Jackson was never hurt? Did you not see him nearly collapse after that leg kick? Not to mention after those devastating leg kicks, Forrest took him down and got in the half guard and then proceeded to side control where he nearly got a keylock/kimura. After that he mounted him and peppered in some punches and elbows. Jackson had ZERO offense in round 2. Forrest might not have "damaged" Rampage but he completely dominated round 2 and deserved a 10-8.
July 7, 200818 yr To the guys saying you can't take away the champs belt on a close decision I agree and if this was a PRIDE FC fight and you judged the entire fight at the end, it would have been a draw. BUT Athletic Commission Judges score each round at the end of the round and cannot go back and change after the round is completed. Its not just about strikes, its - 1. Effective Aggressiveness. This is determined as the fighter showing most effort to win. It is of no use to simply be aggressive. The fighter’s effort must be effective effort. 1. Effective Technique. This area includes Striking, Clinch Work, Takedowns, Submission attempts, Transitioning, and Positioning. 2. Cage/ Ring Control. This is assessed by determining which fighter has used the fighting area to his / her advantage the most. 3. Defense / Escapes. Forrest wins in all categories in everything except head shots. He had more overall strikes, 3 sub-attempts, went forward the entire fight except the Round 1 and last minute of Round 5. If anything you need to blame Juanito for telling Rampage he was winning the fight and not telling him to start going forward. Blame Rampage for sitting back and waiting to counter ala Chuck vs Jardine. Blame the champ for letting it go to a decision. Forrest won, NSAC pays and picks the judges not the UFC. You guys better hope that do not let Machida even come close to the LHW title though, because all you will get is decisions.............and they will be boring ones too.

Go look at any Machida fight, he lays and prays constantly and yet he wins decisions.
