I see him at least wanting too, in both cases. So for me his politics are right - execution is a whole 'nother thing. I am not a cynic, I just want someone who will at least try to do those things. I really do think that he is for the little guy. I don't care about his college background or his political experience, but the fact that he was a community organizer to try to take care of people locally really impresses me. That is what I want to do, and I don't.

 

Don't commend me, I went a little overboard trying to make a point. It is not service, I like being in the middle of things - so it is primarily selfish.

 

It will be interesting to see if his position of a set removal date changes after his trip to Iraq, where he will see that, and there's no denying it at this point, the surge has in fact been working...

It would be hard to dispute the label as a generalization. We, as a group, do not abide by the teachings of the Church 100% of the time. Know any Catholics that use condoms? Approve of the death penalty? Eat meat on Fridays during Lent? Receive communion despite being divorced?

 

I don't know you so I will not be so presumptive as to label you. If I had meant to label you specifically, I would have left the "s" off of "Cafeteria Catholics."

Stay away from the personal comments, everyone, or there will be those on the outside looking in.

This probably should be asked in another thread, but is seems relevant here...does God "see" levels of sin? If so, is there a list somewhere that I have missed?

Astute on your part. The right is not what he's after. Its the coveted moderates/undecideds.
