Hasbeen
Who called you an ignorant hillbilly? I was re-reading the LA Blog thread and have gotten caught up in all the new responses from Kentuckians defending their state. I was in the process of selecting a couple of things being said about us when I ran across this and it just changed my whole mood on this racism thing. I think this was hillarious! I'm one of those hillbillies ya'll been talking bout. I thinks you don't realize how it is. I have to vote for Hillary. My momma told me to. She said we don't vote for no Irish, especially a guy named O'Bama. Bubba Posted by: Bubba Smith | May 22, 2008 at 01:04 PM

HHSDad
Which party do you think will actually nominate the first African-American for President?
BoondockSaint
Pretty pathetic IMO. All he is doing is taking away ammo from the people who live to criticize him. It's not like he said anything that hasn't already been said about him, and he just threw in a little sarcastic comment to help get his point across. This is all much ado about nothing and is really getting blown out of proportion. But, people love to jump on anything they can to twist and turn it to use it to their advantage and that's pretty pathetic imo.

GO CATS
I don't think there is any question about it ... Obama's remarks ring very true. The right-wing scare machine will be out in full-force...already have been. The GOP has been rendered mostly irrelevant thanks to Bush and it no longer resonates with most Americans, so Republicans are going to resort to trying to instill irrational fear of the charismatic, young, intelligent, black candidate into undecided voters. It will work on some , but not enough to matter. :thumb:
nWo
It looks like Ralph Nader was the one to bring up race issue today.
acemona
:thumb: My thoughts exactly. Just because conservative and liberal groups may say things, doesn't mean that the campaigns will follow suit. Obama did not say McCain would say but that those who oppose him would
Jim Schue
I'm not sure I follow... I don't want to put words in HHSDad's mouth (keyboard?), and I apologize in advance if I misread it, but I read that as him wondering when there will be a candidate whose parents are both black. I'm curious about that same thing.

cch5432
As I told nwo in a PM, I'd vote Alan Keyes in a heartbeat over any of the other candidates. I have two issues that I disagree with him on, one of which effects my decision on President very little, and the other he could (hopefully) never implement anyways. UmayBright*but
one of the posts above, couched in sarcasm has already pointed out how the republican machine is going to play. Michelle Obama - rails against "whitey" (lie) implication - she is black and a reverse racist What is a "reverse racist"? A racist is a racists, no matter what race you do not like or which one you discriminate against or for! Just a pet peeve of mine. :fire:

This guy is anything but new and about anything but change. Typical dirty politician as usual.
