Kudos to him That's all fine and dandy, but a very small amount of traffic trouble such as that is not what cost the horse the race. The bottom line is the horse just didn't fire. It wouldn't make a difference if it was ridden by Willie Shoemaker or a bug boy in his first race.
June 8, 200818 yr I don't think Desormeaux had anything to do with it. It wasn't the cleanest trip, but he did what he had to do to get him running room for the stretch. When BB got there, he was in perfect position, but when Desormeaux let him go he just didn't have anything, no "kick." It was very obvious if you watched the race replay. He was where he needed to be...

You dont win the Derby from the 20 post, laugh at the field in the Preakness and then run dead last in the Belmont. Da'Tara ran a great race but would have been 2nd if Brown fired. Was it the steriods? Three races in 5 weeks? Or something internally? For now, I'll say the latter. My guess is he bled or coughed up blood and just quit racing down the backstretch. I knew he was in trouble around the first turn. Yesterdays effort does not change my mind about BB, he is a great, great horse who just didn't show up one race. Its not like he got outrun by another horse on his best day. For all you that wanted to see him lose, why? Sure you may not like the trainer but if you knew anything about horse racing you would realize the sport badly needed Big Brown to win yesterday. Horse Racing needed a star, a horse to follow and if Big Brown could have won yesterday he would have been tha horse.

June 8, 200818 yr I was pulling for him up until his trainer couldn't shut his mouth. What an idiot! I still like him though. I have a hard time believing there was nothing wrong with him.
