What if she is the VP candidate and their ticket wins the presidency, then everyone thinks they did a pretty good job during his four-year term and wants to re-elect Obama in 2012 and then Hillary has to wait until 2016 to have her shot. A big what if...but don't you think that could happen and that isn't what Hillary would want.

Hillary will support Obama ---- I will not. If she plans trying for this position again, she will have to do what the party tells her to do. I don't think he will offer her the VP. I don't think he's strong enough to handle Hillary as his sidekick.

 

I asked my college nephews who they are leaning toward and they both told me Obama. I asked them why and they told me that he's different and they think he's going to make changes. I asked them if him having almost no experience worries them and they said no.

 

This is what scares me the most. He will make changes, he is different but no one seems to care if he is short on experience (IMO).

 

Oh well it's out of my hands, so now I will just schedule something fun to do on election day because I won't be standing in line to vote.

I just don't think Hillary wants to be VP. Even if she is on the ticket, if I were Obama I would be worried that I might not be getting her best effort. She needs to be viable in 2012 and I don't think being Obama's VP gets her any closer to that goal. Being part of an unsuccessful 2008 VP candidate would make her the 2012 frontrunner, IMO.

This is interesting to me. How are they different from each other? To me they look very similar.

If she really wants the job of President, what do you see her doing? Supporting Obama or sabotaging him so she can get another shot in 2012?

The Democratic party eats their dead, particularly in the case of Clinton if she's perceived to have deliberately hurt Obama... she won't be able to position herself for 2012 or beyond unless under both of these conditions:

 

1) She throws her weight behind him completely and he still looses;

2) She can make her age as an issue disappear (less important for a 2012 run.)

If Hillary runs as VP and loses, she will remain very viable in 2012. The reason John Edwards was not a strong candidate this year was that he was a very weak campaigner in 2004 and contributed nothing to the ticket. I hope that Obama repeats the Democrats' mistake of 2004 and put another bad campaigner on the ticket, such as Bill Richardson.

 

Hillary proved herself to be a good campaigner and IMO, she improved by leaps and bounds as the campaign progressed. In 2012, she would be in position to say, "I told you so," if Obama loses in November.

 

Any way you look at it, what is best for Hillary's presidential hopes is for Obama to lose this fall. Her age would be an issue in 2016 and an unsuccessful Obama first term would probably kill her chances in 2012 if she is his VP.

If he wants to win, he better get her as his running mate. Reports are that she would be receptive to that. If he doesn't pick her, he's dumber than I thought he was.

This article makes it seem as if she really wants the job. I can't see Obama saying no. In fact I can see certain superdelegates that have "committed" to him saying that if he does not accept her as the VP, they will switch their votes to her They aren't formally committed until the Convention, are they?). She may not be formally withdrawing her presidential campaign to use as leverage to be named as his VP. Which raises the question: if it happens, how does the fact that she may be crammed down his throat to be his VP affect the campaign? A lot, some or not at all? Any one's thoughts.

If Obama asks her, as I expect he will, a "yes " answer from Hill' will effectively end McCain's hopes in November... unless something very strange and unforseen happens( Always possible in politics).

I believe that the same thing that hurt Hillary in the primary's would hurt an Obama/Clinton ticket. That problem imo was her husband, when Bill Clinton started campaigning for Hillary she slipped in the polls and the more he campaigned for her the more that Obama ran away with things.

I believe that voters wanted to see her run on her own merits and not have her husband overshadow her and "steal the show".

 

Having said that, I believe that in November we will see the Obama/Clinton ticket and win or lose we imo will see Hillary running for the Presidency again in 2012. Mrs. Clinton is far too power hungry not to.

I personally hope that Obama puts HIllary on the ticket. In the worst case, we will be rid of them both in four years - sooner if they lose this fall. If I am wrong and can still afford a ticket to Ireland in 2013, I may be taking a long vacation. :lol:

A big favorite, no doubt. They need just avoid something strange tilting the polical winds in the other direction.
