May 17, 200818 yr Yes, I find most "contemporary" compilations to be crap. Frankly, if you want upbeat Christ-centered music, you are more apt to find it locally in good bluegrass music. Very much Christian-derived. In Glasgow there is a radio station that has a program called "Barren River Breakdown" every Sunday morning, which is bluegrass genre. That's a great radio show on WKU public radio (which has towers in BG, E'town, O'boro and Somerset). The host, Erika Brady, was a professor of mine during my Western days. They go into a lot more than Bluegrass, though, hitting a lot of roots rock/Americana/alt-country/honkytonk/rockabilly-type stuff. I personally don't have much use for the scourge called "Christian Rock," and I think the South Park episode on the phenomena was extremely on point in noting its overwhelming lack of originality and edge. If I need the message bad enough, Bluegrass gospel and black gospel does a great job, and with talented and adventurous artists to boot.

May 18, 200818 yr All Gospel music. Bluegrass, Hymns, Southern Gospel, Choirs, Contemporary, Praise Bands. God cannot be put into a box and neither should gospel music. Either it is about the Lord or it isn't. May 18, 200818 yr I have to say that there are several Christian songs that I like, but I like more of the newer Christian rock or Christian alternative. Some of my favorites are: "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" "We Need Each Other" - Sanctus Real "Love Song" - Third Day "Wake Up" - The Swift "Almost There" - The Swift Anything by Relient K "Consuming Fire" - Third Day "Walk on Water" - Audio Adrenaline "My Glorious" - Delirious? "Say It Loud" - Sanctus Real "I Love You" - Sanctus Real "How Great Is Our God" - Chris Tomlin For fans of harder rock/metal, there is a really good all-girl band from Tennessee called "ilia" who has some good stuff. You can check them out at http://www.myspace.com/iliamusic One of my favorite songs of theirs is "Last Night" There's also a local Christian alternative band called EYESUPONUS, from the Versailles/Georgetown area that has some good stuff. Some of their songs: "Savor the Moment", "Scars", and "I Stand Amazed" EYESUPONUS actually has a debut album coming out in early June.
