KY does not have a State Title for 7th and 8th graders. There is no governing body for them either. So I do not know what you are refering to. I do think we have Pop Warner in some parts of the state and that would be as close to a state title as there is.

 

Now Lex Cath, Spencer County, one of the Oldham schools and Gallentin County are all trying to form a MS State Title.

I am talking a about a feeder system to the high school thur the Middle school.

So anyone in NKy can play for the young thoroughbreds. Now that is a nice feeder program.

Kind of off topic but I'm surprised Gray middle school hasn't formed a football team yet considering the recent success and excitement generated around the Ryle program.

 

I know the BCYFL is there but you'd think Ryle would want to get kids in their system a little earlier. I know Ryle usually has 60-70 kids but I think it could easily reach the 90's if they'd get the middle school involved.

This will affect the Spartans, Raiders, and BCYFL more than it will affect anyone. The chance to get into the system early will draw more kids. However, to your other point, I don't see how this affects Highlands or NewCath. There aren't many kids in Campbell Co. going to CovCath to play football. It's very rare for a kid from Ft. Thomas, especially, to pick CovCath over Highlands or NewCath.

 

I was talking to a nieghbor of mine who lives in the Park Hills/Ft Wright area and he told me that in recent years a number of kids from this area went down and played in the Ludlow Youth Football program. He said that the numbers at Ludlow have been down and this gave their kids more of an opportunity for some playing time then say the Spartans or the Raiders. The loss of say 6 to 8 kids in the Ludlow Senior program would probably have a very adverse effect on their program as well. All things being equal I do think it is best for 7th and 8th grade kids to start playing in some sort a school situation and begin getting familar with how they do things at the school they plan to attend such as CCH in this case..

I think Cov. Cath will have to reach Highlands level of dominance in NKY, before they can be compared with Trinity and St. X on a state wide level. As long as NKY schools can have success against Cov. Cath. it will be difficult for them to establish a dominance like the BIG 2 in Louisville. But adding Middle School can't hurt.

I'm guessing that would be NCC's middle school team? Don't they promote and agressively pursue Catholic kids from the entire county for this team, not just their feeder schools?? I'm guessing a team featuring all the Catholic middle school kids in Campbell County should be pretty good??

NCC has also had some awesome players go thru the Fort Thomas Jr. Football League.
