Biggest Impact Transfers (all-time)

Featured Replies

Of course, they at least had a previous tie to Holmes ... that isn't the case with most of the guys being discussed here.

Very true. They went to middle and grade school in Covington, then moved over the river. This happens rather often in the Covington school districts.

Orlandus Hill of Paducah Tilghman ... played at Carlisle County as a freshman, then transferred to Tilghman for his sophomore year. Arguably the MVP of the 2002 state tournament in leading the Tornado to the championship game.

Ches Gibson, who was a starter on that Tilghman team and also a very good tennis player, transferred from Corbin.

I'm sure there are many more..... I'm most interested in old school names if there are any.

Old school? How about Leroy Smallwood. 1967, I think. Transfered from Clay County to Knox Central and led KC to their last regional title 39 years ago in 1969-70.

Yes they were, but in the original post it says.

"Who are the transfers (changed high schools after their frosh year) that made the biggest impact in KY high school basketball?"

Potato, potatoe...a transfer is a transfer to me.

I'm just telling you what the original post stated, and using those guidelines they weren't transfers. For what it's worth, Thomas spent the 1st 6 years in the Ashland system before going to Rose Hill for two, and then back to Ashland.

Aaron Crosby...........If you are talking about last seasons LC team Smart, Novasel, Stewart were not transfers.

Note I said a few years ago. Those 3 would have been this past year.

Actually met him not too long ago. Nice guy.

What does that have to do with it? We are talking about big impact transfers. Those 2 were huge for Holmes this year. I am a big fan of Ricardo. I think hes going to be special.

Add Darren McKenzie and Bobby Pullem to the list at Ashland.

Don't forget Chad Braily (sp?) and Jason Williams.

Greg Fugate (Gertrude Ramey to Boyd Co)

Casey Davis (Ashland to Fairview, to Russell to Boyd or something like that)

Where did Steve Himes transfer from and when?

Gillums from Greenup to Rose Hill back to Greenup.

Barker from Rose Hill to Fairview

Blair and Vanhoose to Russell from Rose Hill

Watts from Rose Hill to Raceland.

Dave Thompson from Poage to Coles-Putnam- to Paul G. Blazer to ACC to UK.

True ... Ches is/was a good kid. He wasn't the kind of impact player that Orlandus Hill was, but he played a key role in Tilghman's run to the finals.

Different cirucmstances ... simply noting that.

I don't forget anything unless I need to. I was giving you an oppurtunity to opine with quick wit and jesting of your fingers.

Maybe a thread needs to be started on the many athletes both male and female that has went to Ashland from a previous school. My uneducated guess would be that Ashland has had more of an influx of both genders to play sports than any other school in the State.

Let me PM you, is that okay Rickyp?
