That brought a big smile to my beautiful face.

This thread won't last long.

Steve Himes : Ashland

Kelley Cutwright : Ashland

I know I am forgetting many more kids that transferred into Ashland. Maybe Scooterbob Fastbreak can help out on this one. Isnt it a little ironic when you look at the fabled basketball gods of Ashland past that in the top five all time leading scorers that just a few were home grown talent.

In mentioning ScooterBob and Fastbreak, I was not intending to exclude anyone else from information that would be helpful to this post.

Steve Himes, Drew McDavid and Thomas were not transfers.

Orlandus Hill of Paducah Tilghman ... played at Carlisle County as a freshman, then transferred to Tilghman for his sophomore year. Arguably the MVP of the 2002 state tournament in leading the Tornado to the championship game.

Steve Himes, Drew McDavid and Thomas were not transfers.

Weren't McDavid and Thomas at Rose Hill for a while?

Yes they were, but in the original post it says.

"Who are the transfers (changed high schools after their frosh year) that made the biggest impact in KY high school basketball?"

I agree he was a huge reason they won the 2005 title. Didn't he go back to North for one year maybe 10th grade, then came back to South? Seems like I remember something like that.

Aaron Crosby
Actually, it's Aaron Cosby ...
Basically, most of the great ones that ever played at Scott Co.
Well, Scott County has had two Mr. Basketballs that transferred in as juniors ... and maybe a third in a couple of seasons.

As for the homegrown list of "Red Heat" greats, that would have to include A.W. Hamilton and Matt Walls.

He was at South middle, then North, then South Laurel High.

Sanford to LexCath was huge for them last year! I think that really propelled them to a top 3 or 4 team this past year.

But the biggest impact transfer was the Johnson boys transferring to Holmes. That was huge for their deep run in March!

I agree. Without those transfers, Holmes may not have gotten out of their region.

Several players to University Heights over the last 20 years.
Actually, the only two impact players that transferred to University Heights after they began high school that I can remember are Ed Crespo (6-10 guy from South America in the early '90s) and Ryan Langhi, and his impact was debatable. UHA did have another exchange student for one year in the mid 1990s.

Most of the big-name players at UHA (Luyk, Buckner, Barnes, Victor, Swanagan, Mack, Hopson, Edmondson) were there for at least four years.

Of course, they at least had a previous tie to Holmes ... that isn't the case with most of the guys being discussed here.
