I think everybody is being a little to quick to judge. Just becasue he went really late doesn't mean he can't play. He's not Tom Brady but there have been times that QB's have slipped that can play. I also think Woodson has lit it up vs LSU, Fla etc. That is the best speed in the Nation! While it's not NFL it is as close it gets when it comes to preperation. I wouldn't count him out just yet!

Did Woodson have nothing to do with the win over LSU?

Not really forgetting about them because like you said they are solid. I was just outlining a scenario with three role wide recievers and I don't think either will be big play guys, and a really effiecent offense needs diversity and Lyons should be the only real possession reciever if the discussed scenario took place. But they are nice WR's and should contribute. Hopefully one of the guys other than Boyd (who I think will be able to contibute right away) will pull a Steve Johnson and turn into a beast during this offseason.

Lanxter could end up being VERY good. He has the size and skills to become a go to guy down the road. I would expect him to really step up his contribution this year.

Louisville was a pretty big game as well. At the time, as big as it gets.

Woodson was a very good college QB that simply doesn't have the tools to translate to the NFL at this point. Replacing him is not going to be easy...

I am curious, other than the hitch in his throw, which I think is fixable with some work, what are the tools he does not have? He has a great arm and can make all the throws. He has great size. His decision making skills, which is extremely important, were outstanding in college.

I said this during the season last year but Woodson was very overrated by UK fans and The Cats won games despite him, not because of him.

The wideouts made him look good.

Okay, I understand the overrated comment, but the winning despite him seems ludacris to me.

Don't forget National Champion LSU...:D:thumb:

You are going to wish you had an overrated Andre Woodson back next season as you see the new Wildcat signal callers greatly struggle.

There will be a great drop-off in the quarterback play for UK next fall. Also, compounded the quarterback play will be the loss of some good receivers and their replacements.

Woodson began his career as a very unpolished QB who worked his tail off to become better.

He had a college career that some only dream of. Woodson was a very good college QB and with a lot of hard work and patience can become a good NFL QB.

UK will certainly miss Woodson next season.

Based on what?

Based on the fact he is athletic and he did it in the spring game.

So, which UK quarterback on the current roster or from the last 25 years will or would have made us forget about Woodson? I have trouble with that comment.

I am a Woodson fan but I did question some of his decisions late in the season (a couple of sacks against UT come to mind). He is also pretty slow which means that hitch in his throw sticks out even more.

He set the record for most passes without an INT thats not replaceable.

Another very good post by Stick1. :ylsuper:

At the time it was bigger than it turned out to be, U.K. was the start of U.L.'s slide to the gutter last season. I know what you mean though.

Absolutely, well said. :thumb:

I can't really add anything that practically everyone has not said, looks like you are in a "majority of one" here JD. :D

This must either be a firestarter or a joke.

Did you forget about his national record for attempts without and interception, as someone has already mentioned? Or his SEC-record 40 tds?

Or his countless clutch drives late in games over the last couple years that never occurred before?

Yes, the team is better than its been in the past, but QBs get all the love or all the hate, and Dre' was THE man.

Go back to Knoxville or Louisville or whatever 'ville your'e from and quit hating!!
