Flemings to Hawaii

Featured Replies

If he is good enough, do you really think it matters where he plays in college?

You are right on the money.

Just because he didn't choose UK doesn't make the guy a moron. If he is good enough he will make it to the NBA. Not every recruit wants to come to UK. It may not be the right fit for them.

I am a UK fan.

I'm suprised we've made it to almost 50 posts without someone saying "thanks Tubby for putting the program in such shape that we now lose recruits to Hawaii..." or something along those lines!

Of course it is Tubby's fault that Billy is missing recruits... ;)

GT, didn't you at some point say that Flemings would be lucky to be playing anywhere next season due to the credits he needed ? Is this still the case ?

8 of the 16 leading scorers for playoff teams didn't even play in college...

Cool stat but completely irrelevant for a couple of reasons.

1: The rules have since changed and you can't make the jump from HS to the NBA.

2. I am talking about the draft - not the playoffs.

It sounds like this kid won't even get the credit hours to get on campus.

Maybe Hawaii's football coach can help him qualify. I hear he's pretty resourceful.

Hawai'i lost seven seniors from last season's team, which finished 11-19.

If he had chosen UK yesterday, he would be in the starting lineup, possible All-SEC this season, and AT LEAST all-American his senior year. At Hawaii...not possible!;)

All-American? I'm sure the kid can play, but you might be reaching a little there.

Which means what? Did you just hear that somewhere and have been dying to find a place to use it?

Read it about 20 minutes before I posted it, so I didn't have to wait long... :D

Sounds about right.

Don't know how many of you have been to Hawaii. But, Hawaii is one of the most fantastic places on the earth to live. Most people can't even come close to affording it. This kid gets a chance to live there pretty much for free. Can't say I blame him a bit.

So why don't more high profile recruits go there? Why does Hawaii rarely make the Big Dance?

Same reason Jasper is thinking of leaving. It is a long long way from home. It's expensive to go watch your kid play, and it's expensive for him to come home. I doubt that most mainland kids that go to Hawaii come home more than once a year.
