No. I've thought that for several years, more so in basketball, because you're competing in the 11th region.

The Frankfort area currently has 3 high schools. The population is currently around 48,000 people and minimal growth is projected in the next 25 years. Compare that to Scott Co. that has 1 high school and a population of a little over 40,000. Projected to grow to over 64,000 in the next 25 years. They hang on to having one high school, and have great facilities and powerhouse sports programs. They are building a technical school to alleviate some of the over crowding (I assume), but are making a point to hang on to one high school one community concept.

 

I only ask the question to see what others think. By no means am I suggesting this to fly in the face of the Frankfort High Alumni and their tradition.

 

I personnally think sports programs in Frankfort/Franklin Co would be much more competetive with only two high schools.

 

My only problem with it would be that they didnt do it when I was still in school... I would love to see it happen but on another note Frankfort is like the best school to go to and it is a reason why we stand out or should I say "USE" to stand out.

All jokes aside I never really have seen how FHS stands out as far as the education end of things. Knowing some of the things I know I think it is kinda of a misconception.

When Mr. Oder was there they were 11th in the state in testing. It has gone downhill since then.

Mike Oder was great for the school system in his time there, and I'm VERY confident that Rich Crowe will have the same affect.

Actually not sure what kind of Offense Coach Foley will have this season.

 

As for running the footbal every play.

 

I watched Danville and Beechwood in the State Finals few years ago. Danville came out and threw 1 pass and it was intercepted. On the next series they threw another pass and it was incomplete. After that Coach Harp hand the ball off and racked up over 600 yards of offense and I think one of his Rb's had over 400 yards rushing.

 

Point: You don't have to chuck it every play to win a state Title.

 

 

Last season FHS vs Beechwood.

 

Beechwood won the game by lining up and running the football. They made FHS like it. FHS stood a better chance had Beechwood stayed in the GUN.
