LL2 what game was you watching? Taylor carried the ball 22 times. That game was going to be a close game no matter what. But, that's not what this topic is about.

Someone asked what they had returning. 8 out of 11 on that defense. Patterson (52), Cobble (54), and Wilson (1) will be the focus of that defense. Do not over look the other 5 returning starters, they would be stars on other teams.

Offense, they return 4 out of 11. The JV QB took 75 snaps in varsity games last year and scored 5 times. He does not have the arm as Banks but, is lighting fast. He also, runs the anchor on Centrals 4X1 team. The same team that took 1st place in a meet against Paduach Tighlman, Male, and North Hardin last weekend. Look for the replacement to Taylor to be easy. LC is loaded at RB's and word in the city is that the best 4 Little League RB's will be attending Central next year.

Double checking ... the KHSAA depth chart for the championship game listed five senior starters on defense.

 

Not that the difference between six and eight is all that much, but just trying to be accurate.

That defense will be NASTY, ftbll4life.

 

How will Tilghman match up with Central in 08? Their playoff game went down to the wire. Does anyone know what Tilghman lost and what they have returning?

Tilghman will be much as they were last year ... small and fast. Their biggest problem offensively has been the line. The talk is they will go to some sort of spread offense, although no one knows if they have a quarterback that can throw the ball and make good decisions.

 

I suspect they will be the #2 team on the west side of 3A as they were a year ago. This time, though, they would have to play Central in Louisville.

Central has three studs back, but I believe they lost just about every other starter. I know they will have some athletes, but I don't know about their numbers. Obviously, with the three guys coming back they just need to be average or a little above average around them to be competitive in 3A.

 

 

Central played Manual and Highlands down to the wire-

Manual beat Henderson 55-7- Manual drubbed some 6a teams worse than them; so Central can obviously play with the big boys as well as many 3a teams can.

That was last year ... we're talking about next year, and Central obviously had some key losses on the offensive side of the ball. There is no guarantee that they will be as good in 2008.

Scroggins told me at the King of the Bluegrass basketball tournament that he returned 8 guys on defense. He seemed really excited about his defense next year. I believe they only return 3 guys on offense.

Central can definately be beat. A very mediocre Russellville team gave them a pretty good game and PT was far from the PT of old, last year. Yes, they beat Belfry, but, I believe the Pirates would love another shot and if they play there game and limit turnovers, could easily play with Central. They also lose a ton and who knows what the new kids will bring to the table. look for Russell and Mason Co to be back in the mix, as well..

Protecting this kid is going to be key. The Royals should be able to keep defenses off balance with the Thompson in the back field.:thumb:

Whenever I have had the opportunity, Mason has always been fun to watch and well coached.

 

What do they return in the other positions, and on defense?

I think in 3-A Central, Mason, Breathitt, Belfry, Russell, Tilghman, could bet any one of the other on any given night. You not only have to be good in 3-A you also have to have some luck bounce your way. Central will be the favorite until another team proves otherwise. This is why 3-A is so exciting. Unlike 6-A where we already know who will be playing in the Championship game.

They gave HHS a chance at the end of the 3rd and it was over before the game was over. The arguing and fighting between themselves didn't help either. If there were 5 qtrs, the game would have been a blow out with HHS on top. With that, "themselves".

Agree with you on the SR night stuff, it was too long. However, ask every fan and coach from both sides, LC DID NOT ARGUE OR FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER. DO NOT START THAT CRAP. LC WAS FIRST CLASS DURING THAT GAME AND ALL GAMES. They just got tired and Scroggins should have used those timeouts he had. tdyballgame, why would you even make that false statement about that group of kids? Your wrong and you know it.
