I didn't see any of that out of Central during the Championship game. For that matter, even the night before. From the time they entered the hotel lobby, which was full of Belfry fans and players just back from dinner, they were well behaved and all business.

I think if Belfry has a lot back they win the title against Central getting a little revenge. I bet Belfry looking back at last year is sick at some of the things they did that were not their normal style. The pass at the end of the first half was huge for Central.

That was last year ... we're talking about next year, and Central obviously had some key losses on the offensive side of the ball. There is no guarantee that they will be as good in 2008.

 

I think with the talent they have, they will always be competetive in 3A or any A! 3A is no cake walk they proved last year they are alot better than some 6a teams that played a common opponent including Henderson and others. You can put the top 10 in 3a up against 1-4 A and it would be great games.

Agree with you on the SR night stuff, it was too long. However, ask every fan and coach from both sides, LC DID NOT ARGUE OR FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER. DO NOT START THAT CRAP. LC WAS FIRST CLASS DURING THAT GAME AND ALL GAMES. They just got tired and Scroggins should have used those timeouts he had. tdyballgame, why would you even make that false statement about that group of kids? Your wrong and you know it.

 

Central's players made a huge mistake when nearly their entire team rushed onto the field after a brief altercation between two players at their sideline. All that did was fire up the Birds and the result was 21 straight points. Way to find the motivation and will to win Birds! I'm feeling championship #17!

Central has the lowest boys to girls ratio in the state - for co-ed of course - 336 male enrollment out of 950 total (06-07 enrollment) just a little over one-third (35.4%) boys.

 

After winning a state championaship Coach Scroggins will not have to go out and get kids, (Central has no resides area, a.k.a. home district, to draw from) they will flock to Central.

 

Central also skirts the no less that 15% no more than 50% rule on african american students, so getting anyone in will be little trouble. But don't think Central won't keep good athletes that can't cut it academically. They kicked 5 sophomore-to-be football players out before the start of school last year.

 

Add to all that; the Central Boys won the 6th region for the 1st time in 30+ years last season.

 

Looks like good times coming at 11th and Chestnut in Downtown Louisville.

How will Tilghman match up with Central in 08? Their playoff game went down to the wire. Does anyone know what Tilghman lost and what they have returning?

That would be an atmosphere that I wager would intimidate many teams who are not familiar with an inner city urban community.

Central will be fine next year, but I do expect the offense to be different as you will see more option football and less passing. Banks was a good qb with a very live arm, when we went down to the Hive last year he looked great in warm-ups with tight spirals and great velocity on the ball. Banks is gone and their new qb will run the option very well plus there is always a running back at every school, I don't care what anybody says you can find a running back. At Central with all those athletes there it won't be hard for them to replace Taylor and #24 (Washington I think). The defense will be superb and I really believe they will have more wrinkles in the D especially with all that speed on that side of the ball. One thing won't change at Central, you better be ready for 48 minutes of football they come to hit you and hit you some more till the whistle blows. Physical football keeps you in games I believe and they execute that to perfection. Their schedule shouldn't change since I think all their opponents they played last year are in 2 year contracts. Lastly the team that beats them this year has to be prepared for 48 minutes of smashmouth football.

Belfry CAN beat them and had thier chances to do so in the Championship game. However, with that being said, Central has a TON of talent! Central had as much speed as I have seen. Cabble #54 on defense was unstopable, Belfry could not block this guy. He was as much a problem with them not being able to run the ball consistently as Central's overall speed was. I don't know what his game stats were, but I will bet he was in on at least 15 tackles in some way or another. In additon to that, Central is subject at anytime to break the big one, as they showed in the Championship game. Central also makes a lot of mistakes, penalties, turnovers, missed assignments. Teams can get away with that to a degree if they have superior talent. In order for Belfry to beat them this year they will have to not make any mistakes, figure a way to block Cabble, and contain Central's speed. Not an easy thing to do! It should be fun!

Word has it that Central is having spring football for the first time in years. They never had Spring ball under Coach Serotti. I think that if they were able to take advantage of those 10 practices that it is only going to make them that mush better. Also the fact that they are not going to have a QB that can throw as well as Banks could might actually help them to keep the chains moving and speed the game up. I would hate to see that defense play with the lead for the better part of games. They just murdered teams that they forced to play from behind. and teams that tried to throw the football. Looking at their schedule from last year in games against 3A opponents they averaged over 35 points a game and gave up less than 12. That was without running the option after the first couple of games. I project an even more dominate performance from them in the 08 season.
