March 26, 200818 yr PINEVILLE — The Appalachian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan are expected to hold an event in Pineville on the weekend of April 11 through April 13. The event, “Aryan Bash 2008” is said to be the first annual event of this kind. There are several other groups planning to attend, including members of the American National Socialist Workers’ Party (ANSWP), Hammerskins, Brotherhood of Klans (BOK), and Keltic Knights. They also plan to invite the Imperial Klans of America (IKA) and the Empire Knights. The planned event was brought to the attention of several area residents, and confirmed through the website of one of the groups. http://www.middlesborodailynews.com/articles/2008/03/26/news/994kkk.txt
March 26, 200818 yr Its sad that organizations like this still attract people. I hope Pineville sees a mass of people oppossed to this.
March 26, 200818 yr I have a friend who is going to this and speaking, I have known him for 29 years and we grew up together. While I don't agree with what he says all the time I will not disassociate myself from him.

I respect you for that, you seem to be able to over look his narrowness, I wish I could forgive as easily as that! I respect the right of the KKK to assemble, but, I hope that they would respect not to associate with them! I think it was said best in the movie "The American President" I am parphrasing here but it stuck with me Micheal Douglas, "You want freedom of speech, you have to earn it, you have to listen to someone who you would spend a lifetime arguing for the topic of what you believe in, while the other person is arguing why you are wrong, you want free speech, let us see you sing the national antheme, and watch someone burn the american flag, then a person can sing about the home of the brave and free"
March 27, 200818 yr I love the KKK and like groups. It keeps all the ignorant people together in one place.
March 27, 200818 yr I love the KKK and like groups. It keeps all the ignorant people together in one place. Good point. I am all for free speech, goodness knows I have some "out there" thoughts when it comes to our government and so forth. BUT To flat out HATE a group of people because of the color of their skin, religion, sex or whatever, that is flat out wrong. To have groups still around that promote that in some way is just baffling to me. You want to disagree with a person, a group or an ideal, fine, that's what makes this country great. But to go that extra mile and HATE someone, nothing good comes from that. I'm just amazed groups like the KKK still exist.

Also, to promote the idea that your "race" is fundamentally better than another.

March 27, 200818 yr In another thread, I mentioned these nut jobs from both sides of this will be coming out of the woodwork. :creepy:
March 27, 200818 yr I counted seven groups being invited for this "bash". If this goes as past rallies have and the Aryan group is lucky, they will only be outnumbered by the news media about 10-1. I've seen these things a couple of times and usually they consisted of 6 to 10 redneck looking goobers circling the Walmart parking lot in a couple of old pickups with the Confederate flag flying from the bed. Most spectators will ignore them, some will curse them, a few will actually cheer them on. Either way, their fifteen minutes is over rather quickly.
March 27, 200818 yr I consider all these groups a disgrace to the USA. The KKK, Aryan Brotherhood, Black Panthers, and the list goes on and on. They make me sick and I wouldn't give them the time of day. I'm thankful that these groups are relatively ineffective in their disgusting messages!!

They make me sick and I wouldn't give them the time of day. I'm thankful that these groups are relatively ineffective in their disgusting messages!! I think these groups are more effective then we want to believe. Rev. Wright, preaches to thousands in Chicago... (for those who believe his speeches are filled with venom and hate towards white americans) KKK and Nazi groups, appeal to young outcast white american males. (their speeches filled with venom and hate to anything that doesn't agree with them) Radical Islam appeals to young outcast muslim males. (mosques preach hate to anything that doesn't except Islam) All of these groups are centered around hate. I'd say if the govt. would really give us the real growing numbers, it would be scary.

The actual "speech" contained the following ... America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You've gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say, "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours." You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then you can stand up and sing about the land of the free. I respect the right of the KKK to assemble, but, I hope that they would respect not to associate with them! They (the KKK) would not respect that. The fact that we, as a society, allow a group like that to exist is a testament to our freedoms.
