Doesn't Boone county return more than Cov-Homles? I figuired that they would be favored over Holmes.

Holmes is still a way better team and Boone County made it no where this season in the tournament. Holmes made it to the championship game so they will be the better team next year.:fight:

Boone returns 4 starters but lose their leading scorer in Krohman. Holmes will still be the better team of the two next year though. The juniors to be who started for Boone this year were good but only started because the junior and senior class wasn't very good.

Holmes on the other hand returns 3 starters from the state championship team in the Johnson brothers and Pittman who all played despite a very deep and good senior class. They also return key contributors in Jamel Riley who is probably a better point guard than Avery and will give the 3 point threat that they lacked this year at times. They also return 6'3 Dom Johnson who is a slashing type guard. The only real loss they suffer is Henderson.

Next year's team will be just as good as this year's, but will be younger and not as deep. One thing they do have going for them though is they'll have more size in their starting lineup this upcoming year. They will need the freshman class from this year to really step up though. I don't think Holmes' senior to be class was very strong outside of Riley.

I agree with Holmes being the better team but just because they made it to the state championship this year has nothing to do with it. Holmes has a lot of talent coming back but they will be challenged more and while they will be tough to beat, they won't blow everyone out in nky like they did this past year.

Agreed his athleticism is unmatched in this state and if he grows to be about 6'8 he will be Mr. Basketball for Kentucky.

I don't understand making a prediction like that. He may not even be the best Mr. Basketball candidate on his team that year. Ricardo Johnson is very impressive. Not to mention the rest of the state. He has a real shot at being a great player and a D-1 player. It will be fun to see how good he gets.

Christian County will be very, very tough next season. I've heard from a very reliable source they are loaded with talent and have a great coach. They have won the 2nd Region 2 out of the last 3 years. They will be one of the toughest in the state. They have possible 3 players on that team that should play Division I when they graduate from high school. Best players are 2 sophs and freshman. WOW!!!!!:fight:

I have heard rumors on Whitaker, nothing firm though. I had heard he initially wanted to get out of coaching when he left Bell Co. and for sure when Josh graduated, so who knows what his plans are.

This is just a thought, but I bet if Whitakers Dad lost his job at Hazard considering the current job market in Scott Co. I would say he could find employment there quicker than a highly skilled point guard could penetrate and pitch.

UHA loses Hopson and Edmondson. They'll be good next year but no where near what they were this year IMO.

Thats a lot to replace!

Many of the schools in the state tournament had transfers. Hazard had several, Homes - the Johnsons, Sheehan from Shelby originally started at another school. The last I knew, we live in a free country in which people can move for whatever reason they want to move. If you value sports, why wouldn't you be allowed to move to another location that has similar views and fits your needs. Recruiting kids is illegal! Opting to better your family in a different location is not! It is difficult to take when your arch rival gets a transfer, but we all like them when they come to the school we support. Scott County will have a loaded team next year. You don't penalize kids for moving. The rest of the state needs to raise the bar and compete.

Its awfully tough to compete with one of the biggest public schools in the state as it is, especially when they have two or three Division I prospects transfer into the program in the span of a year or two.

Exactly my thoughts. SC will have 3 starters next year who were all transfers.

How is that having one of the best programs? How are other schools supposed to compete when they play by the rules and use what they have whereas a "program" is getting transfers anytime their "original" kids aren't up to par with expectations.

As far as the Johnson Brothers of Holmes, once again, they grew up in Covington and attended the Covington Independent Public Schools system until 8th grade, went to Taft (Cincinnati, OH) their freshman year, because of the job their mother had there, it was cut, so they went back to Holmes where she now works and where her sons both attend school. If anything Taft got the transfers, not Holmes.

You are completely biased with Holmes. Holmes would be extremely lucky to get past Trey Beuttel and the Beechwood Tigers next year in District and Regionals.

That may be the most outlandish statement I've ever seen on this board ... and that's saying something.

I think you should look at my location before calling biased toward a school.

But as far as Beechwood, guess we'll just have to wait and see...didn't Holmes beat them by 34 and 28 this year though? :sssh:

Alls I have to say is AIR-REZ is gone and Holmes will lose this season.
With Ricardo, Jeremiah and Elijah back, I would say they probably won't lose too often ...
How about University Hts???? Didn't they have a bunch of underclassman playing V and made it to Rupp, or am I mistaken. Did they lose the bulk of talent? Seems they had like a 6'6 8th grader

They lost four starters including Hopson, Brown, and Edmonson who were their top 3 players.
