The Johnson brothers were originally at Holmes and attended the Covington schooling system up until their 8th grade year. Their freshman year, their mother got a job at Taft, so her sons came with her. Her job was cut after that one year so she moved back to Covington and applied for a position at Holmes, where she originally was, and her kids were put back in to the school they were originally at, not a school two hours away.

Is there a rule that makes it different for someone who has lived at that locaton previously that makes it different.

It sounds like with both situations a parent has lost a job and had to relocate. Unless there is some sort of wrongdoing please explain to me why any of the student athletes should not be allowed to compete?

It's very different. They didn't move to a school two hours away. They attended the school their mother taught at and when her job was cut they returned back to the school they were originally at because their mother got a job with the Covington schooling system again.

Bottom line is this. Their mother taught in the Covington schooling system, got a better job at Taft, it was cut, and she returned back to where she originally was.

They didn't go to another school for athletic reasons. They had no choice but to go there. The Euton's have a choice. So I'd say the Johnson brothers situation is MUCH different.

So the boys had no other chance, but to go to where their parent moved them to? It doesn't matter if its 2 minutes away or 200 miles away. If a family moves they have the right to play where they move to. Lafayette HS and LexCath HS are practically beside each other. Sanford had a change in residency and moved.

You are taking the same situation because of the rules and saying 1 student should be allowed to play and the other should not. IMO thats hypocritical.

If a parent is trying to find a job, doesnt it make sense to look in one of the bigger areas of the state with more industry? I know I'm coming in late on this one as a newbie, but I tried to read the whole thing and can't see how its any bigger deal for Euton than it is the kids at Holmes.

For the Eta Rho guy, I dont think SC has gotten transfers every other year. Who is the last one they got before Guyn? Best I can remember was Hundley from Dunbar way back when. I'm talking like the late 90's for him.

He should get a job in the same area? How many engineering jobs can there be in Ashland? I'd say his chances are pretty good in Louisville or Lexington. Makes sense to me.

Well, the Johnsons did have some previous ties with Holmes ... the only thing connecting Euton and Scott County before the transfer was the speculation that he might end up there.

I haven't doon too much research. I'll have to wait until the KY b-ball yearbook comes out in Fall before I get a good pre-season poll. I am open to thoughts but if you want to criticize please at least take the time to list your top 5.

We really need to get over the tranfers that are going on all over the State. If a whole family moves to a new town or a area of town the student should be able to play for the new school in any sport. And if they move in a area because the program is better for the kids then so what. What is a scholarship worth today? I feel that the new school should not recruit!

I am sure Hazard, CovCath, Boone Co, and PRP just to name a few will have great teams, but thats just a few that I think will be the best next season.

I think it will be Scott Co.
Imagine that ...

All the signs point to that, it seems.

Plus why go to Bryan Station? They have the best guard in the state this year, with no Allstar team so fear. Going to college at a mid-major school (Butler). Why move to Lexington when you can go 8 miles down the road (Georgetown). Jackson has offers from West VA, Xavier right now as a 10 grader. If Jackson or Euton was your son do you move to Lexington or Georgetown? If you have to move in that area you go to Scott Co.

Are you implying that it's somehow Bryan Station's fault that Mack isn't going to a bigger-name school?

Jackson has offers from West VA, Xavier right now as a 10 grader.
And I suspect he will have those offers no matter where he goes ...

If you have to move in that area you go to Scott Co.
There are so many good choices in that area ...
