I know Scott CO. will probably be the favorite, but who else will be good.

Hazard and Elliott return all 5 starters.

Hazard should be top ten if not Top five next year. But, who knows how Cantrell rates them. He sure missed Shelby County.

Holmes will be in the thick of it next season.

(2) Dunbar(Webb, Hudson, Rogers return)

Depending on how their young players come along, Mason County could be pretty good. They do lose 4 very good players though.

Mason will be pretty young but well coached and full of energy. They will compete but will have to reload after losing 4 great players.

Treg Setty and Phil Barner will be the X factors for the Royals next season. You know Middleton and Downing will be very solid, as well as Neal Pawsat and Ryan Hamm. But if Setty of Barner either one live up to what they are capable of, watch out for Mason Co. Not only for the 10th Region, but possibly the state as well.

Scott will be #1 if everyone is cleared to play, no questions asked. Holmes should be tough as well. I think they only started 1 senior. Is this correct? Henderson will be tough to replace though. Elliott will be tough, they will miss Maynard though. The Faulkners and Ferguson are always good, but their overall success at the state level will be determined by the improvement of Timmy Knipp. If he hits the weights and becomes a little more aggressive they will be a load for anyone to handle.

When you are selling season tickets for half the lower level of the gymnasium in high school, it makes sense that you would have to keep the tradition of being a contender for a state championship every year. They have a great program and I am sure expectations are high, sort of like UK basketball.

Corbin will be one of the better teams, too.

Scott Co without a doubt has one of the best programs in the state. I just feel the KHSAA needs to step in and make these kids sit out a year who are moving and transferring just got athletic reasons.

 

Its not right for the kids who play by the rules and bust their tails all year long to be denied a chance at winning a state championship simply because a school has transfers coming in from around the state to keep their tradition alive.

Shelby Valley will be a very good team coming out of Eastern Kentucky. Nearly everyone from the team returns as Juniors from a 20 win team who beat Louisville Male and Desales and acquitted themselves nicely in out of state play.

Maybe we can have a Sweet 17 and just give them their own region.....11 and 3/4's or something like that.
