April 2, 200818 yr Author Going down to Douglas Lake, TN this weekend to fish in a club tourney. :thumb: Sounds good, give us a report when you get back.
April 7, 200818 yr Well. Don't know what to say about my trip to Cumberland other than,,,,,,the Good Lord had other plans for us. Got there and Wed. and the water temp was 49 degrees. They started dropping the water level in preparation for the deluge we were about to receive. And like idiots, we fished through it. Boat and it's contents are still drying out. This is the first time that I've gone to LC and struck out. My father in law caught the only fish, a 19 in. striper on a chartreuse spinnerbait. It was the only bite. I threw everything I had at 'em and nothing, zip, doodah, nada, zilch, bupkis. Oh, well. That's what my old man always said was "paying your dues". FWIW, I paid them alot this past week, which means that I've got some banner fishing ahead this spring!!!
April 7, 200818 yr 8 pound Bass, today on a black buzz bait, well 7.9 but when its that big it might as well be 8.

I have had many of trips like that Doc, the old man is right and I have paid far more "dues" than I think should be allowed. LOL. About the monsoon that hit, just ask cvillecat about the 30% that he and I always seemed to run into.. A terrible day's fishing still whips a good day at work.
April 7, 200818 yr Made it down to Douglas this weekend and had a pretty good trip. Boated 12 keepers on Saturday the biggest being 4 pounds on the button. After Saturday night rain fishing was much tougher on Sunday only got 3 in about 4and half hours fishing. Caught them on the good ole Carolina Rig. Hopefully going back in two weeks if the weather holds up to warm the water a little the bass should be hungry.
April 10, 200818 yr Author I spoke with a buddy of mine that had went to Yatesville this morning, fished about half a day or more with dissapointing results. Yatesville was very muddy, he caught only 3 non keeper bass today.
April 13, 200818 yr Pickwick was hot last week. White bass in the tailrace. Caught 40-50 per outing - Catch and release! All about 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 pounds. Pure fun. Huge Crappie scattered all over the main lake. Guides bringing in 50 to 60 per trip - all slabs. We were throwing Little Georges below the dam for whites and 3" Kalin Grubs on the main lake. Lots of small bass - no trophies this trip. Heading back down w/o April 20th. Hope the whites are still running.
April 14, 200818 yr I witness a fellow BGPer pull in a 7 1/2 pound smallmouth out of Laurel lake this weekend. does anyone know the state record?? She was a Hog!!

April 14, 200818 yr My little girl and I stopped by the river when we were in Morehead yesterday and caught 5 rainbow trout in about 30 minutes. I was pretty shocked considering it was 42 degrees and raining off and on. I let her reel 2 of them in on her own and impressively enough she managed to land them - she just turned 4, btw.

I have found that it seems like the colder the weather the better the trout fishing is.
